Fun / original ideas for dates?
    #3288093 - 10/28/04 05:45 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Hello peoples,
Today I was trying to think of some fun and original ideas for a day or night (or both) spent with your partner.

I've been going out with this girl for about a month or so and things seem to be going good (we were already good friends before that, it was sort of just a natural progression).

Anyway the thing is, she really hates repetition. Say if we're listening to a winamp playlist or something and a song comes on twice in close succession she goes 'aaaaaaah!', anyway thats just one example of her personality, she likes to do new things. The other thing she hates is co-dependant couples.

So, I'm trying to keep things interesting for her. I don't want to get stuck in the habit of one of us goin round to the other ones place, sit around and talk and snuggle and listen to music, I mean yeah its nice, but we can't do that all the time, we've got to be active and have fun.

What I really like to do is go and do an activity that is fun and enjoyable and interesting (I'm talking like a non-sexual way here). Something that keeps you engaged in having fun for a while and isn't boring or repetitive.

Some things we've already done are stuff like going skiing, going for a nature walk, picnics, camping, roaming around the neighbourhood in the early hours of the morning while tripping and doing nitrous and laughing at neighbourhood cats, etc.

That was all fun but what I really want tips on is things to do while youre doing that stuff...like sure you can go out to nature and stuff but then what just like chill out? I'm not very creative at thinking up fun little games or whatever that you can do to make the date more entertaining and enjoyable.

Any tips?

Well, how familiar or safe do you feel in the woods while tripping?

I'm very confident in myself and have been planning this with a few friends for .. *counts on fingers* two months, for spring.

1/8 of mushrooms or so each, a compass and we all hike into the woods in the hours before sunset (around 3pm in spring so that we have atleast a 2 or 3 hour hike into the woods), make sure to get very very turned around, and try to get out.

Tripping while lost in the woods turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life   I highly recommend it to anyone who loves being in the forest.

Umm, if you live in a city, it's fun to make fun of the people that are regulars to the viewings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Especially the ones that dress up as characters from the movie.  I imagine it would be interesting watching that movie in a theatre while tripping with all the dressed up people in the crowd with you.

Hrm.. I dunno i'll keep thinking on this stuff.

I'm just wondering if your girlfriend has any hot friends that are into that stuff too?

man, fuck that idea. those people who are into the rocky horror picture show have problems - avoid at all costs especially when tripping.

Throw a cocktail party. You and her, if one of your places will hold a number of people. An awesome couple that I'm good friends with did this. They just sent out simple invites and saw what everyone did. The requirement was to dress up and bring something to eat/drink. We ended up with lots of bottles of fine wines, super fancy cheeses and crackers, and people in tuxes, formal dresses, and normal street clothes. It was fun to see what people thought of when they were invited to a 'cocktail' party. Try hosting a party like that

You could also cook her dinner. Chicks really really dig a man who can make a nice meal. You could even make it romantic with candles

Go to laser light shows.

Got to science centers.

Go to art galleries.

Go to a mall, share an ice-cream and just watch all the silly people who walk by. People watching can be fun

Go caving, not just hiking.

Learn to kayak or canoe.

Plan a road trip, everyone loves road trips

Buy her a copy (or loan a copy) of a book you really like, and then sit together and read. Spending silent time reading together can be very nice

Take her out to eat at a new ethnic restaurant that you've never been to.

BUY HER FLOWERS!!!!!!

Better yet, buy her a live plant that she can keep around the house. If she has a green thumb at all, consider a bonsai tree :sun:

Go roller skating- old school style!

Go bowling. Bowling rocks!!!

Play some mini golf.

Leave notes around her house saying how much you care about her.

Love her with your actions

my favorite thing to do with a date is go to a play. It's very fun and cuddling while watching a live show is great!. Art galleries are a good idea too.

going to a secluded beach or a clearing in a forest and watching clouds is awesome, especially when tripping or stoned. Its fun to see what you and your partner see and can be insightful into their personality.

Good suggestions so far people!! We've tripped together a few times, thats always fun, especially when you sit together and each have a hit of nitrous and you both go off to that crazy place together, I find that it hyper-intensifies a moment and we can communicate fully without words.

I enjoy cooking her meals and cooking for someone else encourages me to push my skills, try to impress her with something 'gourmet'...and always sure to throw in a few home grown oyster mushrooms.

Personally I am a lover of the irie herb, but she hasn't smoked much in the past year or so because she lived with a house full of big time stoners who got her too wasted all the time so it put her off it, but I think sometime soon I'm gonna be reintroducing her to it in a nicer setting just us two in amounts she feels comfortable with.

Another idea I had was she loves trains, and theres some train tracks near my house with some abandoned carriages along the sidelines, I'm thinking of getting a couple of bottles of red wine, some rugs, candles, snacks, maybe an instrument or two, go put em in the carriage then take her for a walk along the tracks and just 'stumble upon it' hehehe...

Anyway thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming!

Why do YOU have to be the entertainment coordinator? It sounds like a huge burden to me. And if you set a precedent now for being a constant source of new and exciting diversions for her, what happens later when you burn out and just want to hang out? She's going to be like "WTF Dude?"

I suggest you feed her a steady diet of simple activities that you BOTH enjoy, that don't take much effort or dough and then spice it up on rare occasions with elaborate, romantic stuff. She will appreciate the special occasions more, and you will be able to pace yourself for the long run.

Besides, just your presence should be entertaining enough for her!!!!

thats true, you cant blow your load of great ideas all within a few months...
pertty soon she'll be expecting surprise weekend jetaways to the pokanos islands.

bottomline-- as long as you share similar interests and your open to some girlish ideas...just do what she wants 2 outta 3 times.
she gets what she wants, and you'll be happy just being w/ her.

sound advice , though for myself I enjoy being the ringmaster from time to time. However this can raise expectations to an unatainable hight. Does she orchestrate any symphonies for you? If she is just a passanger on your jetliner of entertainment you may begin to feel very used, especially if things dont end up as planned. I like to try to stay friends with my exs, but this can be quite difficult if you feel youve been used up like a cake thats fruited one to many times. Definately something to think about

Nope, shes definatley a very independant chick as I said she hates co dependant couples. I agree with not spending too much money or going to amazing shitloads of effort every time we hang out, but yeah I like the sounds of art gallery, stuff like that, its free or cheap.
I'm definatley not getting bossed around or anything, I just feel like I owe her one cause I've had uni exams this week and she was kind enough to cook me 4 dinners worth of casserole stuff and deliver it to my house so that I wouldn't get malnourished during exams from not eating properly...thought that was a pretty generous thing to do so wanted to pay her back somehow. And just generally have fun

heres a surefire plan: Secure some cocaine, invite her over.. pour some wine, light some candles, then put the cocaine in a thing glass with 20ml of water and 2:1 ration of cocaine:baking soda, then hold the glass over the candle together, gazing into eachothers cracklusting eyes. smoke the crack, fuck like wild sweaty pigs and then kick her out when you start to crash... then drink the rest of the wine by yourself.
