In retrospect I'm surprised at how shameless that post was.

I feel obligated not to pirate it, being as it's so damned good.
Besides, the HD version of each episode is almost 9 gigs, and there are 5 of them.
Downloading... 45... gigs... would... be... a... very... slow... process

Do you or your parents even HAVE an HD-DVD player?
You might need one of those first.

I checked today and found out that the damned dvd player can't play HD-DVD's anyhow. It's not an HD-DVD player, it's a DVD player that up-converts to 1080i, which seems very marginally useful to me.

Yes, they're selling a blu-ray box set too.
I suppose if I bought myself a PS3 I would then proceed to buy the blu-ray version, that would be rather kickass. The ability to play blu-ray is one of the biggest reasons I'm considering a PS3 puchase.
Then again, I think I'd much rather continue saving my money and buy my first car.

No way don't be a fool. Come on man I like you. Don't do something stupid. The American version has S.Weaver doing the narration. David Attenborough is the fucking man. He made those films. He is the proper narrator. I've heard a bit of her narration and it fucking sucked.
Planet Earth is NOT a new series. I saw it almost over a year ago. And long before it was played in America it was playing in Britain, then Canada.
Now that I've said David is the fucking man. And no one does it better. Each section is about 2 gigs. (that's why the images are so amazing... well that and the awesome spy camera they used)
I will burn the whole series and mail it to you. I just picked up 25 burnable DVDs. I will admit having it on a proper DVD so it works in a DVD player would be nice. So, if you are going to buy it. DO NOT buy the American version.
Watch a few of the sections with David doing the narration. I can't believe they even asked an actress to do it. I'm sorry but I think the people running Discovery Channel etc over there must thing you Americans are stupid. I suppose they though people would relate better to an American actress, and that having a British guy do it would be too "weird:" and "different".

Subscribe to NetFlix for one month. It's like $10 or so. Copy the DVDs, return them in free prepaid envelope, then cancel your subscription.
Voila, Planet Earth Boxed Set for $10 plus the cost of a few blanks.
Also, you might consider keeping the NetFlix subscription. It's a great service.

You know, that's a really good idea and my dad allready does the same thing with dvd's from blockbuster, anyhways.
I'm going to do precisely that. Thanks for the idea!
*edit*
To keep myself busy until the release date of Planet Earth, I qeued up Man of the Year, What the $%^# Do We Know?, and The Departed.
They really do have a very appealing service.
