Re: fellow people of the pub, help me get this girl... [Re: MushroomTrip]

It's always easy to sit here and tell someone what they should do.

Who just walks up to a chick and says "I like you"? That's fucking lame.

yea I don't know, since we haven't even spoken before she may get a creep vibe or something, I don't know. It seems just to blunt ya know?
on the other hand a straight forward approach is always nice, and if the feelings are mutual it will most likely succeed.

we'll I'm just going to sit on it for the weekend, then plan on making a move sometime next week...

If that's the way you feel than that's probably how it's gonna turn out...you need to have a bag-of-tricks (to impress her) [and don't take that so literally]

Great
Take some courage.
IDK, from my own experience straight approaches are the best.
And if she's open minded enough she'll appreciate you honesty.
If not, maybe she's too up-tight and that at least you know it and then you can act in consequence.
Good luck :smirk:

Dont make such a big deal out of it man, just take it like it is, dont fear rejection and dont make this out to be something its not. Essentially, ALL your doing is talking to her...and shes just another person, thats it, nothing to worry about.

Do this: Go up to her, start up a convo, act cool and calm, and cut of the covo @ 3-5 minutes in, tell her to give you her email/number as you hand her a pen, then leave.

Now go and talk to that girl champ! Im counting on you.

thanks man,
I think thats the best advice I've heard...
I don't necessarily fear rejection, I fear awkwardness (I know thats trivial but its me).
we'll when I'm around women my mind goes into a blank about conversation, I guess I will think about ideas on how to strike up a conversation.
and when I say I'm going to do something, I usually always do...I will inform you all next week on how it goes...

mushroomtrip - thx

And here the distinction is drawn between exaggeration and bull diarrhoea. Wait for a decent opportunity and use it to speak to her. If it goes well, it goes well. If it doesn't, then you had a conversation that didn't lead anywhere. There's no good reason not to at least speak to her.

I do, and it has worked in the past!

Dude, the most simplest thing to do in your situation is to just go up and compliment her on something. It's not hard to do at all and barely takes courage. Even if you don't like a certain aspect about her, compliment her on that aspect. Just go up to her and say something like "I like your shirt." or something of that nature.

Compliments are the best way to break the ice.

Good luck!

How hot are you on a scale from 1 to 10?
How hot is she on a scale from 1 to 10?

You could try the note with a check box trick while you're at it.

hah.. mikeytro, you sound exactly like me

"I don't necessarily fear rejection, I fear awkwardness (I know thats trivial but its me).
we'll when I'm around women my mind goes into a blank about conversation"

i was with the same girl from 16 to 20, and now that we've broken up, i don't know how the fuck to go about talking to women i'm interested in and getting past that social awkwardness. there was a chick in the bookstore i was going to talk to but i said what you said - "well I'm just going to sit on it for the weekend, then plan on making a move sometime next week..." - and never got around to talking to her. now, i've lost the crush and the interest in her.

so really i don't have any advice, because who the hell am i to give advice? i just wanted to let you know i know exactly what you're going through.

Walk up to her and say "Hey, how much does a polar bear weigh?" When she says how much, say "Just enough to break the ice." and introduce yourself.

Or, you could just can the cheese and say hi.

Remember, every other person in there is probobly feeling just as shy as you. So show some superiority, and confidence, by doing it anyway. Treat it like an interview... that way communication keeps talking, you seem interested in things about her more than her (which is disarming), and it puts the control in your hands. Plus if you're the one asking the questions (AND LISTENING TO THE ANSWERS), then you never say anything wrong.
