fellow people of the pub, help me get this girl...

so I have a lecture with this girl that I really want to get to know better, and have something happen.
We haven't spoken, just eye flirting really. The lecture hall has like 200 people in it, so people kind of keep to themselves...
I've tried to think of something to say to break the ice, like something related to the class or a question I have. The problem is, is that I over analyze everything I want to say in my head and it all sounds lame/stupid.

sooo, any ideas on how to break the ice and not sound like an idiot?

Have faith in yerself buddy. I met my girlfriend (of almost 4 years now) in Italian class and it started the same way - the ol' eyegame. We both played it, we both knew what was up.

wanna know my trick? I guess it's tougher in a big lecture but our class was small and this is actually what I did in every class to break the boring, silent monotony of the pre-lecture time..

I just started talking. To whoever would listen, in my general area, about whatever. Funny stuff. Things I had noticed recently that cracked me up. If this girl is really making eyes at you, you will notice she is listening the most intently, and laughing the most (as mine did)...and that's all you need as an in to talk to her directly.

also onemorerobot - good advise, I guess I just have to start talking, stop over planning/analyzing situation and just go with the flow
I just have this irrational fear that after I say hi, I will be left with nothing to say and that turns into horrible awkwardness
and I HATE awkwardness, to some degree its necessary. But thats a big problem for me, getting over that awkward phase and getting the courage to go through it to get to know people better....

What do you have to lose by talking to her?

What do you have to gain by not talking to her?


Answer those for yourself, then weigh them against one another.

I think you'll decide to talk to her.
