Another Pop Corn Question...
    #6719143 -

Hey All...

My pop corn jars are doing great...They have lots of healthy mycelium covering all the kernels and they grow exponentially each day...Last night I shook them when I got home...at first they refused to separate back into free moving kernels, but when they eventually did, the mycelium seemed to be significantly reduced...I've never worked with pop corn so I'm not sure that's normal...The jars looked almost done before I shook them and now they don't...So, how will I know when the jars are done???

Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. After shaking it looks that way. The mycellium will recover in a day or two.

On a second thought though.... don't use popcorn in the future. Use rye, wheat or barley. Popcorn is the worst of all. It gives you fewer inoculation points later, has problems with the moisture content, etc.

On a third thought, shake when 25-30% colonized, not when almost colonized.

Shake once during incubation. Shake again right before spawning to your poo.

All you're doing is setting youself back a few days and stressing the mycelium out when you shake more than once.

You are SO right Eraserhead...I shook one jar yesterday and left the others alone...The one I shook is now behind in development...

it doesnt hold much moisture and it offers fewer incoulation points upon spawn.
