Maybe I'm not completely well versed in biochem to know, but why dont they give you a REAL sleep aid like lunesta or ambien? ativan, while it functiosn as a sleep aid, is more for typical freak out calm down benzo.

Go to the Dcotor, even if its the ER.

Stop drinking, thats just stupid.

If you can, smoke as much weed as you possibly can at one sitting, smoke a gram or two to your head, as long as it's decent, it should put some feelings of tiredness into you, use that as an aid to try to get to sleep.

Getting drunk doesn't put me to sleep in a good way, always have terrible sleeps. You should check with a doctor if you're up 3 days and not sleeping, I think you can actually do harm to yourself if you stay up too long.

*edit*
Marijuana seems to work better than any OTD sleep aid like lortab or anything out there. None of those seem to make me tired at all.

I agree, if it is possible to avoid western meds I would go for it. I understand that your adrenaline glands are dead, but are there no other alternatives than a stimulate? You will begin to build a tolerance to sleep aids, and then they will stop working for you. If you try to stop completely, you have a rough couple nights of sleep, but it is worth it in the long run.

But...if you seriously want to pass out, I understand. I have some degree of insomnia as well, so what does it for me ususally is a schwag blunt and then a large quantity of vodka. Mixing meds and alcohol wakes me up as well, dont do it. You could maybe snort two or three...or four 2mg bars of xanax, or possibly pop a valium. Stay away from Niquil and that crap, it is no good. I also advise you try and come off the sleep meds. Drink and smoke yourself retarted the first couple nights coming off and you should be ok. I know this all sounds like horrible health advice, but sometimes when you can't sleep you just say fuck it, i'll take some damage for a good nights sleep.

dude, I was looking at your posts and like 99% of them are about some physical problems you are having. You know what I'd do (And I'm no doctor so you know, take this for what it's worth...) taper off and stop all drugs/medications you are taking (This includes alcohol), find a good natural food store, and make sure the only things you put in your body for two weeks are natural, organically grown foods and water. put nothing else in your body for two weeks. You sound seriously out of balance.

Do note if you take any prescription medications it might not be a good idea to stop. Talk with a doctor.

to recap:

Talk to a doctor
Spend some time putting only natural things from the earth into your body.

There might be something you're ingesting regularly (knowingly or otherwise) that is having a detrimental effect on your health.

Do you use opiates? Because that really sounds a lot like bad w/d's.

melatonin knocks me the fuck out.. the only thing that really works.. as its endogenous to the body.

Go find a melatonin containing sleeping aid.

melatonin or valerian root are the safest and probably most effective supplements to encourage sleep ... B vitamin complex's will improve the quality of sleep, too, just like they improve the quality of daily energy ... drink lots of water and flush your system to encourage healthy sleep ...

why does alcohol make me more awake ?

alcohol converts into sugar 1-3 hours after drinking, which is why drinking yourself to sleep is a horrible idea. being semi-conscious for a night and not dreaming does not count as a substitute for sleep ...

Stop drinking. It sounds like you are an alcoholic, man...

Alcohol makes you pass out, not sleep.
Smoke a joint, and count some sheep.

I made a little poem for you. Good luck!
