MUST SLEEP TONITE, ANY ADVICE ON MEDS ?

I havn't slept in 3 days nd I feel sick as a dog :frown:
I absolutely MUST get some sleep tonite. My prescription
Ativan isn't working (even at 4 times the dose - i.e 4mg)
I tried combining it with 2 full bottles of wine and I
became even more awake. Dyphenhydramne doesn't do a thing
for me and codeine and muscle relaxants seem to make me
more awake even when combined with booze.
Desperately need advice. I there any thing I can take or
do to sleep tonite. I don't know why booze makes me more
awake, all the medications say that booze will "enhance
the sedative effect" but it seems to have the opposite affect
on me. please help. I was having wine, perhaps a different
type of booze would put me to sleep ? beer maybe ?
i just need to sleep tonite cause i feel awful, i don't
intend on taking these regularly.

But with the amount of drugs you've already tried, I think you should probably just lay off it.

Damn, three days up.. don't take any pills, just get a bunch of beer and drink it, chillin' on your couch or something. Watch TV and get drunk. Repeat, pass out.

Or put yourself in a situation where you must not sleep.  The urge to sleep always becomes greater :wink:

No offense, really brother, but you might want to see a counselor/therapist. That is not healthy.

In the meantime, don't stress about it. If sleep comes, enjoy it. If not, do something productive and relaxing to pass the time.

Warm milk, Tylenol PM, Nyquil usually work for mild sleep disturbances....but if your taking that much shit, and still can't sleep...there is a problem.

Christ! why in the world would someone miss 3 days of sleep... in any case... just look at your post and see how much shit 've you been taking... i mean... i just see a complete mess... maybe you should look for balance as body tends to it by itself.

You need just healthy natural sleep...

Or... try joingin a fight club :wink:

I would've said ambien, but if you've already had that large of a cocktail of drugs, listen to these people and just get sober

Sounds like a case of opiate withdrawl to me. Benzos helped knock me out occasionally during that, but that was always short lived.....and considering ativan didn't do it, who knows if xanax or k-pins would.

Good luck brother, I feel your pain.......I've had some cravings lately, and reading that reminded me to be happy that that shit is a thing of the past.

First of all,I know it sounds like the sort of typical advice someone from the Shroomery would give you, but try not thinking about it so much! Don't lay in bed for hours. Distract yourself with something else! Books, video games, writing, tv, movies, news, infomercials...it doesn't matter. If you can, make yourself a cup of non-caffeinated chamomile tea before bed. Its a nice relaxent. I would suggest staying away from booze and drugs just because they haven't been working. The only drug I would suggest is regular ol' Benedryl. My mom took a farmacology class 2 years ago and hasn't stopped talking about it since, and according to her it has more of the active ingredient in sleeping pills than the pills do. Everyone she's suggested it too say it knocks them out.

The last thing I can reccomend is to NOT have a clock within sight of you. They just make you anxious. Do whatever you can to keep your mind away from the "Fuck, I really need to get to sleep" thoughts.

Otherwise, try looking at things a different way. Maybe something you thought was helping (booze perhaps-that means Nyquil) is actually hurting.

um, guys, as i mentioned in my post this is not a regular thing.
I'm not wolfing down every pharmacutical I can find for years on
end. I have a prescription for 1 mg ativan at night because
I have adrenal insufficeny and they've put me on high doses
of cortisone which makes me very hyper and anxious and I cant
sleep - so they gave me 1mg of ativan to sleep. I have to take
the cortisone cause my body doesn't make any (my adrenal glands
are dead), I tried stopping the cortisone so that I could get
some healthy natural sleep and ended up in the ICU for a week
on a ventilator and feeding tube. I just havn't been able to
sleep for the last 3 days and am feeling VERY sick, and can't
do very much. I really need a good nights rest and then I'll be
fine even if I don't sleep tomorrow. I just feel that I really
need the sleep tonite. I've been up for 3 consecutive dayz...
jeez I feel awful and one more sleepless night and I'll probably
fall sick (sleep deprivation really brings the immune system down)
besides I have a ton of stuff that I HAVE to do tomorrow, so I
just have to sleep tonite.
why does alcohol make me more awake ?

Prescription drugs seem to be causing more harm than good. About this time I would be questioning western medicine. Try hollistic or homeopathic medicine.

This is something that NEEDS to be taken care of ASAP brother; you said you have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow, well, that can be put off. Your health has to come first.  Good luck, and keep us posted.


One more thing; you mentioned alcohol keeping you up.....I've noticed the same thing before, sometimes it keeps me up, and other times I'll fall asleep and then wake up in the middle of the night and have problems going back to sleep.  My sleeping pattern is weird though......I often have problems going to sleep, and/or staying asleep. This is something that's started somewhat recently, and  I attribute it to my past abuse of opiates.  One thing that does help me sleep through the night, is herb.

Also, my bad for jumping to the WD conclusion :crazy:, your original post just reminded me of it.
