Rolling Tobacco

Does anyone know of some high quality rolling tobacco? I know the commercial brands like Top, Bugeler, and Zig Zag, but was woundering if theres some super special shit they hide from you at the tobacco shop.

I quit smoking allmost a year ago, but maybe once or twice a month il have a smoke. Thing is i really like the taste of the roll your owns better. Id like to get a pouch and throw most of it away, but keep a small stash, maybe enough to roll ten cigs. anymore than that and it would just go bad before i could smoke it. shelf life for tobacco is supposed to be like 6 months or something.

theres other rolling papers like zig zags and bugeler that are by different companies, but for the most part, a rolling paper is a rolling paper. theres not too much variation other than size and flavored ones, but most tobacco shops dont carry flavors.
(at least around here they dont)

The smoke shop here has a decent blend of their own brand, I like Bali Shag Light (Halfwarez or something..)

Bugler is nasty, I bet American Spirit isn't bad

Bali Shag is great, Jester is a step better. Most (good) smoke shops have other stuff in bulk behind the counter too, just ask.

I used to roll my own cigarettes with Drum tobacco. But I quit smoking and I suggest you do the same. (But if you don't, look for Drum.) :smirk:

Three Castles... From England... comes in a NICE green pouch in the US with a family shield on it...Someone called it a "mild blend" looks a little yellow to my taste, however mighty wet & tasty! I would like to see it again.

I've got a pouch of that sitting out in front of me...just tried it for the first time this last week or so. It's pretty damn good.

I also really like Bali Shag Halfzware and the light version of it.

If you see all the "X" Exports, I suggest trying the Amsterdam Shag. Quite tasty.

Natural Spirits is good, but a bit harsh. Very 'raw' feeling.

If you have a tobacconist in your area - not a tobacco shop, a *tobacconist* - go in and see what kind of house blends they have.

I've said it before, I'll say it again

go to your local tobacco smoke shops and see if they have fresh rolling tobacco

the store I go to sells imported, fresh organic rolling tobacco for $3-4/oz depending on which type/quality you purchase

nothing beats fresh rolling tobacco

If you can't find the fresh rolling tobacco (I've seen demius talk about it, but I know many including myself never find it), I prefer American Spirits, but my experience with other brands is limited.

as everybody seems to agree, house blends tend to be the best. this place just up the street from me has 5 blends ranging from 1 (the lighest) to 5 (the darkest). plus a norwegian, a danish, a dutch, and a belgian blend.

i usually buy samson, though; it's a halfzware shag quite similar to drum, but i like it more (plus the papers that come with it are nice)

american spirit rolling tobacco sucks ime because it dries up super quick. not even an orange peel placed in the pouch seems to help much

Yeah Spirits do dry up real quick.

It's nice if you and a couple other friends all like it, so then you all go in and smoke it together. But you shouldn't have to do that.

If you haven't considered, you might try going to a cigar shop as well. You know they sell different pipe tobacco blends in those glass containers all lined up? If you check there's usually at least half a dozen glass containers with cigarette tobacco.

Also if you cruise your smokeshops you can usually find a place with this same setup. I used to get all sorts of different blends and found a local favorite when I lived elsewhere. It's usually real nice and fresh...I'd split off some out of the big pouch, leave the big pouch in my friend's humidor, and let the stuff I needed then dry out a little until it was just how I liked. All sorts of good flavors and they work great with filters too.

bali shag hlafzware with Rizla papers(the black/brown papers that taste like licorice) is the best combo for rolling your own. the taste of the papers meshes really well with the tobacco.

If you have problems with spirit drying up too fast.. orange peel wont do the trick. You gotta use this clay disk that you soak in water. They cost like $1 or something.
