Re: The genius of Conservatives [Re: zappaisgod]

I'm not one who really pretends to care about the money you people are spending on this war.  I mean, its not like the fucking war is going to bankrupt us.  George Will, or maybe it was Friedman...I dont know.  One of those Conserva-Nazi's wrote a pretty good article on it last week that I read someplace.

But I digress...

Like I say, I wouldnt mind the expenditure if it SERVED SOME PURPOSE.  Blame it on the "Commie/Lib/Jew" media if you want, but I think its pretty clear that the American public isn't going to let the troops stay over there much longer.  They are going to come home, the whole fucking thing is going to be an EVEN WORSE bloodbath than it is now, and the only difference is going to be the trillions in fucking debt that we've racked up, even further mortgaging ourselves to some international credit company, probably Chinese, who does not have our best interests in heart.

I know full well that you and all your cronies see this as some great titanic struggle against "Terrorism", and not just a petty vindictive war against a country that could never have threatened you anyway.  And I know that in that vein you think its terribly necessary that we finish the job.

But I think your in the minority now, while a growing majority realizes that you've sold them a bill of goods and the fact is that only result of this war is going to be the huge amount of debt you wracked up in the process.

Score one for the fiscal conservatives!

:congrats:

Tom Friedman is not even remotely conservative.  Nor are nazis.  Nazis are in fact leftist.  National Socialists, don't you know.  Whatever.

Fortunately, it isn't up to them.  They are a fickle rabble and the framers knew it.  That's why we have the form of government that we do.

Your pessimism on the war is noted but dismissed (it is, after all, a digression).  As to your debt panic, I believe zorbman actually provided me with all the support I needed for my assertion that the current debt is pretty average.  If China holds all our paper it isn't us in the tough spot, it's them.  They can't afford to let us sink.  Not that they could bring that about anyway, but they sure don't want to be caught holding worthless paper.  So, take a deep breath, chant Hari rama rama krishna 4,000 times and don't worry, be happy.

If you want a budget issue to piss your pants about consider soc sec, the Ponzi scheme from hell.  Foreign debt?  Not much of a problem.

I don't have cronies, I have henchmen.  And I don't even generally cloak Iraq in terrorism terms,  although there is certainly that element as well.  No, the man accepted a cease fire under certain terms, failed to live up to those terms and is now dead.  A new day is dawning in Iraq.  What that will hold is uncertain but it is almost definitely better than the old one.  For us and them.  Look at it as a construction job.  The house was falling apart and needed fixing.  It was a health hazard for the whole neighborhood.  The first step is demolition.  Then you build it back better.  The chattering of nitwits who see the demolition as a step back and demand a stop work order are blinded by their myopia and, in this case, hatred of the architect which has been fueled by an incredibly ideological media.  They no longer try to report the news, they try to make it.

That would be "racked" up, but that's fine.  Nobody sold anybody a "bill of goods".  At least not me.  Neither I nor the BUsh administration should be held accountable for someone else's inability to undertsand a sentence.  As a for instance, there is all this drama that Bush said Iraq was trying to build a nuke.  Except that isn't what he said.  I knew that wasn't what he said, but there seem to be a bunch of inarticulate and illiterate morons who continue to insist that that's what was said.  As an additional note, British intelligence STILL stands by it's assessment and the SSCI essentially said Joe Wilson was a liar in his op ed.  Too bad that asshole didn't have to answer questions under oath.

Money well spent I say, if it had had the desired effect of convincing a bunch of vicious thugs that we were not going to tolerate their vile behavior and that they would cross us at their peril.  Unfortunately, the chattering of nitwits and liars has somewhat negated that effort and to a certain sad extent proven the thugs right that we, as a nation, have no stomach for a fight.  That's too bad.  That's really too bad.  Thanks.

Spending on defense is probably not the huge portion of the federal budget that you think it is and I still say that this is money well spent.  As opposed to every federal nickel sent down the New Orleans rat hole.  Most of that city never should have been built in the first place.

I think if you read even the first line of my post, I said I'm not worried that the war is going to bankrupt us. I am well aware that both us and China have each other in a situation of Mutually Assured Economic Destruction. I'm well aware our financial resources are so huge they could support military spending in multiples of what we spend now.

W-O-W. First off, the country is in a worse state now than when Saddam ran it. Vicious or not, there was a central authority then. I have seen absolutely nothing to suggest that the country is going to be in better shape when we leave in 2-4 years. The whole fucking place is going to be a cesspool.

I know that you happily disregard everything you see in the American media, and believe that somewhere behind some back-drops they use on set there is actually a wonderful Disney-esque Iraq ready to be unveiled to the public. I think the situation is probably actually worse than the media reports.

Yes, Iraq under Saddam was not a nice place. Go figure.

The whole fucking country is a JOKE. You are not going to accomplish shit there with those people. Eventually, you will have to realize this. Nobody in that region likes you, and killing a million Iraqi civilians is not going to make them MORE likely to let you keep a permanent base there. You honestly believe you can rebuild a whole country, with the tacit DIS-approval of a majority of the people from that country?

Good fucking luck, and I'm glad I'm not the one trying to do it.

Just stop getting MY friends killed for your pointless little pissing contest.

I did not know ostriches could type. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND. Are you really going to sit here and tell me nobody in the Bush administration said Saddam was trying to build a nuke? What? Because those exact words didnt come out of his mouth? You know full well that the ENTIRE administration said Saddam was seeking Yellow-Cake, Aluminum Tubes, Centrifuge equipment, etc etc etc.

You KNOW this. STOP trying to tell us it never happened.

So why not say that it in the first place? Is it because maybe the American people wouldnt have gone forward w/ a war based on your desire to see who's cock was bigger, your's or Al-Qaeda's?

Unfortunately, it seems all you've proven is that America will invade your country on false pretenses, destroy your Army handily, and then stand there for the next 5 years twiddling their thumbs while you destroy their 10 bajillion dollar tanks with $50 artillery shells.

But spin, as Madtowntripper illustrates, is everything.

Seriously, Mad, the fact is that the situation, as it was, was not static. He did have ambitions and he had bribed members of the UN including permanent members of the security council. He most certainly wanted a nuclear program, just as Iran does, as was reported by British intelligence, who still stand by the report cited, and by the Liar Joe Wilson's own report. To believe that the status quo was going to continue and he would become a cowed bitch like Gaddafi, ruler of a tiny shithole with no army to speak of, is frankly childish. There was absolutely no reason to believe he was going to change his spots and they were an unacceptable pattern. So bye bye asshole and thanks boys for the great job.

Do you honestly believe the alternative is going to be better? Yes, Saddam was a fucking asshole. His kids were, if anything, worse. But we're going to be out of that shit-hole in 5 years, MAX. Already, people are getting sick of their kids taking bullets for years while some morons halfway around the world try to figure out their political process' w/ carbombs and IEDs. 5 Years....

And who's gonna be in power then?

Al-Sadr?

Fuck, that's WORSE. At least Saddam wasn't gung-ho Muslim Jihadist crazy. Hell, he was probably killing more Imam's than we are. All you people have done is kick in the door of Iraq's oil farm to any two-bit fire and brimstone Neo-Muhhamad that can rile up the people behind him and manage to stay alive until the Americans leave...

I fail to see how you think any great democratic process' is going to take hold and put in someone YOU like.

Sure, we kicked their ass militarily. Was that ever in doubt? But what NOW?

Yes, I DO think it will be better and I DO think it was worth doing and I DO think that it is important that various international shit bags realize they can fuck with us only so much. That is why I am a neocon. Without apologies.

I think it will be worse. I cant see those fucking people getting their shit together and making a beautiful place over there.

I dont think it was worth doing. I dont give two shits about whether Akhmed grows up to be a good little capitalist.

I think the international shit-bags now pretty much know what kind of fight they can win.

We just disagree, I guess.
