imagine having blurry vision for over 14 years

i've never had my eyes checked because i didnt want to wear
glasses, and i didnt want to wear contacts because i got pink
eye once when i was a child and it was a horrible experience.
so all these years i've spent squinting.

well tonight i gave in.
i walked out of the optometrist office just a few hours ago,
with contacts in place,
and WOW. i can see texture & shadows & stars & EVERYTHING
in complete detail.
im amazed.
i feel like im in a new world where everything is much more beautiful (and even ugly..lol)

seeing these things might be norm to you if you have perfect vision,
but 14 years of blurriness would definitely redefine appreciation.

im going to go stare at the stars for a bit.
im soo happy. =)

Yeah, contacts are the shit when your eyes start to suck ass. Plus, for some reason I hardly ever get red eyes from smoking, I think it has to do with the contacts.

I just got glasses. I've got a phobia of placing anything near my eyes, so I'm struggling with getting used to wearing glasses and there was no way in hell I was gonna get contacts.

But they already help a lot for reading, which I have to do a lot being an English major.

It's weird how vision works, you don't really notice it get bad, but you notice when you correct it. Everything is so defined. enjoy!

I'm actually happy for you 40, I've always had better than 20/20 vision and felt sorry for people who couldn't see a desert sky filled with stars properly.

Well, my mom got it for me as a graduation present, but I think it was something like $1500.

Congrats on your new eyesight 40...I have horrible eyesight and rely on contacts to function.  I'm getting laser surgury eventually.

I had the same problem.. Went 5 years without seeing shit.  Then I went and got Lasik.  Perfect vision is awesome!  Expecially when really fucked up...  You dont have to worry about crushing your glasses becuase you are tripping/rolling/wasted....  :smile:
