Adding more casing material between flushes?

Well, seems I made my top casing layer a tad bit too thin! I've got tons and tons of hyphal knots/pins, and unfortunately, the shrooms are only growing to about 2 inches tall, and very thin. (I presume from fighting for nutrients)
Can I / Should I add a bit more top casing after the first flush? Will covering up hyphal knots cause any problems? Will this help the size of my mushies?

My info:
substrate: 3 half pints of EQ on BRF/verm
casing: straight coir (only about .5" thick on top)

I am using a cool mist humidifier (running probably 18 out of 24hrs/day) via the Shroom God Humidifier Tech, and I also fan once per day. I'll pick up the fanning, just in case. Thanks!
