Casing - Second Flush - How to?
    #346065 - 06/21/01 03:55 PM (23 years, 9 months ago)

I've done my casings, retrieved my first flush from them.
I don't want to fsck anything up, so I'm asking here about how to instigate second flush. Just wait, or crumble and re-case? What's the best method?

Last time I did casings was a little different from most people: Did standard cakes, double-end tek with 3 flushes, and then cased them for an additional 3 flushes. Each flush was followed by a re-casing, with new lower layer of verm, crumbling remains, and adding new upper layer of verm. Each time, due to shrinkage of the large casing-cake and added verm, it added to about the same amount of casing material.

Thoughts on the matter would be GREATLY appreciated.

Drag a fork thru your casing layer. If the casing has pulled away from the sides, stuff some damp casing material in there. Resume daily mistings and fannings. Takes about 5 - 7 days to see your second flush.
