Cleaning polyfill

What's the best way of cleaning polyfill jars betwen grows?

Is it ok to just soak the jars in a 10% bleach?

replace the polyfil. no need for bleach. soapy water is fine.

I don't replace it, unless its full of spores- soapy water works fine if your going to PC it.

I've used the same polyfil over 5 times without cleaning it.

why risk it though? polyfil is so cheap. $10 will buy you a year or two supply for even the most aggresive cultivator.

no contaminations so far using water and a sponge to cleanup the caps.
not to say that my polyfill looks dirty, they still look pretty fresh.
jar count is probably over a hundred by now, hard to keep track :smile:.

but i don't see a great risk in reusing the polyfils multiple times :tongue:

its like 2 dollars a bag, and each jar takes like a tenth of a pennies worth, i just throw it out

Would someone kindly remind me again as to why anyone would use polyfill in the 1st place when tyvek is easier to use and works better anyway,o and its not cause polyfill is cheep,cause tyvek is just as cheap if not free

i use polyfill for the holes in monotubs... but ya thats about it... tyvek is king for jars as far as i'm concerned ( except for any lid conceived by agar)

Will they ship it to other countries? I assumed it is just the U.S. I use polyfill too (only used it once but had 1/6 success rate, might not be the reason though). I went to staples and asked for tyvek envelopes and looked everywhere but they didnt have any clue what they were.

I'm sure postal services around the world have tyvek envelopes. you just have to know what tyvek is, what it looks like, and how it feels. I bet if you ask someone at the post office for tyvek envelopes they'd probably be able to hook you up for free.

Yes,the only reason I haven't thrown out my polyfill is in case I want to do a mono tub again one day,Ive been thinking about it,I don't really need a full greenhouse up and running all the time considering I have more than I can eat.I don't sell mushrooms and only eat them with a few people,I know you cant get addicted to mushrooms but I sure as hell feel as if I'm addicted to growing them:lol:
