speech and conciousness- the Radio of the mind
    #6530661 -

Tune in, or tune out if your around the opressors. Our minds are like radios. When we speak to another person we are just playing around with whats in their head, ours and the air in between. Just like music, when you play with another person you both collaborate off of eachother and influence one another. Anyone noticed this or heard this comparison before?

I think "turn on, tune in and drop out" is a fairly classic example of that idea.

it is an association matching system but the objects that emerge are sequential and can emerge together so you do get interference and crosstalk like radios.
you are replaying your own prerecorded audio based upon cues from vision, touch, etc.

Maybe I am off topic, but sometimes when I am tripping I get this sense that there is a way that humans can communicate without using our inadequate language. There is a method of communication much deeper and much more interconnected within us all. Something like an understanding of things without words that can be passed on. I am pretty sure this is where you are coming from?

So if this is what you mean or is not, do you think that an understanding could be broadcast as a radio broadcast to people's car radios except using solely body/mind/soul to body/mind/soul.

If so, do you think an enlightened state of body/mind/soul could be passed on if the other accepts it?

Didn't Buddha say he would wait to enter until all others have entered before him? He said you cannot help others, they must help themselves.

But, as he came up with his own conclusions from trying a multiplicity of practices and ideas I have my own. I think you can help others understand the oneness state if they want it. When I felt like I was broadcasting, if you will, I understood that some people anchor themselves into themselves more than others. The ones whose anchors are fully imbedded to the floor of the ocean are not able to understand the pooling of consciousness. The ones who are not quite anchored, whose anchors drift and bounce along, are able to embrace the concept. And there are those out there who I feel have no anchors or if they do they are no where near the bed of the ocean. These people I feel are ready for the tranmission, and it would be possible to share the experience of being with them. It's like synergy after that.

Only thing is the broadcaster would have to go and stay in the Buddha state. And that is tough business. But if one could break through the doors of perception for just enough time to share it with someone else with them. I think it would be possible. I know next time I embrace it I am going to prolong it for as long as possible if not into a regular state of being. I don't think I am going to come back down into the old self, but merge and be it.

Did I get too far out? :dying: :yinyang: :psychsplit: :teleport:

Indra's Net - There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe. The horizontal threads are in space. The vertical threads in time. At every crossing of threads there is an individual. And every individual is a crystal bead. The great light of absolute being illuminates and penetrates every crystal being, And every crystal being reflects not only the light from every other crystal in the net, But also every reflection of every reflection throughout the universe.

I like the anchor comparison. Insecure and defensive people are anchored for sure.
I definately agree with what you said about tripping, allowing us to realizethat we are always communicating in other ways than speech.
good luck

i know what you mean. when your tripping with a group it seems like talking is completely pointless because you're all feeling the same thing, but that thing is hard to put your finger on.

I remember my friend said the letters S-P and 500. and i knew exactly what he was talking about. it was my very first trip so we were constantly trying to explain what was going on to each other and by the end of the night we realized there was no point, and we all knew exactly what the other was feeling at the time. even right down to their emotional state and even some creepy things like what music the others were enjoying or not enjoying.

I think the whole united feeling is amazing. And i do think people can communicate with ways other than the traditional 5 senses were given.

a bodhisatva does not attain cessation until all beings are liberated,
this paradox is enhanced when you take in the fact that each being is already a massive cluster of beings and a historical timeline of beings:
so if the buddha is already a multiplicity of beings, there is no cessation until all his beings are liberated, and this is the work of his enlightenment i.e. to keep liberating himself in an ongoing way.

besides this incalculable volume of buddha selves, each other being on the planet is also a multiplicity of selves in series (citta- or mind moments - each being a microself within the larger self - and each is worthy of liberation, or non-sufferring (aka healing))

as for the radio idea, and the idea of there possibly being some dimensional forms in which we overlap eachother (not requiring any radio at all to exchange bits of life energy) I am not sure what the buddha would say, but I really feel connected to such a space/idea especially when stoned/or dreaming; and it may also be an associative construct, but who cares.

 great post, rgv!  this static metaphor for ephemeral self you've constructed is certainly worthy of liberation

In response to the original post: I'm not sure how one might 'tune out' the oppressors, as they are kind of built in to the whole 'being human' trip: without even having met you I can guess that the most oppressive force in your life is probably the need for food, water, and shelter!  Citta, the Enlightened Mind, is neither a giver or receiver of signals: it is simultaneously transparent and reflective, in this world but not of it, that sort of thing.  Or so I'm told!

The dilemma as I see it is one of correspondence: every external force which you define as oppresive is reflective of (perhaps metaphoric for!) latent internal forces which the external-'objective' world of friends, family, culture, etc. have taught you to suppress via the passing on of mores and folkways through language and action.  Mind is limited by its subjective programming in time and space.  One cannot tune out or tune into external signals based on their 'oppressive' or 'liberating' nature unless one finds some way to Intend self-gnosis - finding this intent, one becomes free to construct a complete metaphor which she or he might then attempt to pass on to other Buddha-fractions.

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

complete metaphor

such as a koan?

Or an album?

Or an internet post?

There is this tone in my brain relating to a theta state I believe. I don't often hear it. But the last time I did while working on meditation a message from someone I know was carried with it, and I used the tone to send a response back.

I have often been puzzled about this. How do you step out of "your" mind into someone elses, or into the collective thoughtstream... becuase just as we all use vocal chords to speak, and we all conjure up english, so speaking is a muscle-memory act... so to is thinking compulsory in this way..... we all intiiate thought from the same source that we initiate speech and other ideas from.... what differentiates the voice in my head, which is more like, the voice on the computer screen, from..... the voice in your head?

If I pause it....... well I have heard if you pause it long enough you can undergo ego loss... is this so? But at any rate, if I pause it to the lengths I am currently capable of, if it is paused, then..... since my mind is now not the mind of the "I" that does thinking, where does your mind start, if you are thinking... how can I tune in?

You can tune in.

So, why would we want to (we would have to assume ultimate altruism and liberation purposes, such as being able to resonate minds with someone you are talking to, so you can transmit liberation to them by knowing how to say the right words......?) and how do we? Because we can.

Well, the Buddha in us can.

Om Namah Shivaya, I tell you What!

tune in, as in think about this theory, and see the correlations in your life and those around you. just notice youre thinking something based on the people around you. if you are around chilled out people you will have a chilled out mind state. if you are around critical people than your mind will possibly be more critical (yea, maybe the more mental power, more towards 'enlightenment'... you are the less you 'hear' from others and just listen to the 'good' voice).
takin drugs maybe be a way to tune out because they phyiscally change the chemical channel in your head. I guess meditating does as well..
