Just as a note, as I havnt ead the entire thread yet, but opiates and lack there of causes massive depression during withdrawl and for weeks and evenmonths after withdrawl.

IMO, First step is to get off those and anything else that has physically addictive properties to it.

I can't honestly say I know anything about opiate addiction, but if you're interested in the military, and you feel you've tried everything else, I say go for it. There's a really good chance it'll suck. That's for sure. But you can get some time away, some exercise, and some money too. Put yourself on a military pension, if they have that in the USM. Secure that sweet senility.

If you're stuck in a rut, my best advice would be to just wait it out. I've had some low times too, but in my experience, they only make it that much better when you find yourself on top again. Be tough, you can beat this.

One other suggestion: After you get out of the service, if you do end up enlisting, how about backpacking around the world? See some people, places, things you never knew about. There's still magic in the world, but you may have to go somewhere new to find it.

Been there, felt that....

Speaking from experience I can say that staying fucked up to avoid these feelings doesn't help; it's makes everything a LOT worse. You'e obviously seeking something, I hope you find it.

The military sounds scary. How did you decide to go? I'd hate to join the military and die, but fortunately I am an older woman, and they draft those last. :wink:

My father was in the military, however. Perhaps that is why I think it sounds scary, because I've heard his stories from WWII. He thought of my mother a lot and it probably kept him from death.

Support our troops, but not the war.
