Safest VP pick, Clinton or Obama?
    #6518712 - 02/01/07 12:44 AM (17 years, 1 month ago)

Despite all the attention and money (!), I still feel that neither of these two will be able to nab the nomination. Just too much baggage. However, I do think that there's a strong chance that one of them will be the runner up when the primary points are counted.

Assuming (:syringe:) that this turns out to be true, who might the candidate - be he Richardson (just boring enough), Biden (the most racist man in America), or Gore (can't wait till Oscar night) - pick as his VP running mate?
Who would you bet your political career on?
You may choose only one

A loathe Hillary "let me help the government micromanage your personal life for you" Clinton and would avoid her like the plague. The last thing I need is somebody that enjoys blaming others for our problems, and fixes things by taking away freedoms. The world doesn't need mother Hillary protecting us from violent games and movies or mature song lyrics.

During Clinton's eight years in office, he put over twenty times more people in prison for non-violent drug related offences than the fourteen years of Reagan, Bush, and Bush. This fact alone is enough for me to condemn anybody from the Clinton clan.

I know very little about Obama, so I cannot really judge him. However, I take his lack of political experience as a bonus. I think the majority of the problems America faces are caused by career politicians, and political families like Hillary (and Bush and Kennedy and...).

Peel it off.

I actually like the fact more druggies were busted.

1) It's always the stupid ones that are
2) That means a lot of crack/coke dealers were put off the street, and I feel they're ruining our country, from the black up
3) I feel bad about the fact that an acid here and a shroomer there got busted- that's screwed up -but I guess its for the greater good.

I don't know much about Hilary but I don't see anything wrong about restricting violent games from kids, and what do you mean micromanaging someone's life? Give an example of what she wants to do/has done. I see all this Hilary hate now I want you to back it up.

Obama is slightly black. He's shouldn't run because then there is no chance he'll receive any of the republican vote. Hilary has a vagina, and even though that's not as bad as being black, it would still reduce that vote, despite her being a moderate.

I say Gore, Maher, or Olbermann. Too bad none of them will run.

Is this actually true? Its not the first time I've heard that figure, but its the first time I've heard it from someone whose opinion I actually trust. It just seems way too out there for me to believe...

Have a source?

PS: On a side note, I'd be willing to bet money that Obama will the the Presidential nominee, as opposed to on someone else's ticket as the VP. I'm absolutely sure of it.

I think Edwards will be the nominee with O'Bama as his running mate.

> Is this actually true?

Yes.  The numbers are around 750,000 during the eight years of Clinton and around 35,000 for the fourteen years of Reagan/Bush/Bush.  I don't remember the source, but it was from a government site.  I was astonished when I saw the numbers.  I would have expected the exact opposite.  I think I posted about this when I saw it, and I probably would have sited the source.  If I can find the old post, I will update this one with a link.

Hmmm... I can't find the post... don't quote me on the numbers, yet.  Especially the low one, I may be an order to low.  I am pretty certain on the upper number for Clinton.  I will continue to search and let you know what I find.

Year Number of persons in custody of State correctional authorities for Drugs
---- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
1980 19,000 - Carter
1981 21,700 - Reagan
1982 25,300 - Reagan
1983 26,600 - Reagan
1984 31,700 - Reagan
1985 38,900 - Reagan
1986 45,400 - Reagan
1987 57,900 - Reagan
1988 79,100 - Reagan
1989 120,100 - Bush
1990 148,600 - Bush
1991 155,200 - Bush
1992 168,100 - Bush
1993 177,000 - Clinton

1996 216,900 - Clinton
1997 222,100 - Clinton
1998 236,800 - Clinton
1999 251,200 - Clinton
2000 251,100 - Clinton
2001 246,100 - Bush
2002 265,100 - Bush

This isn't the original data I was using.  This is just state, not state and federal.  This is also all drug offenses, not just non-violent ones.  I'll leave it to somebody else to see if I am remembering correctly or full of ...

Personally, I'd like to see a Republican President and a Democrat VP ticket take on a Democratic President and Republican VP ticket.

That's just sick. Like dogs laying down with cats. You are so deranged you should have to register with some database like child molesters do. If I ever catch you anywhere near my kid's school that sound proof bunker I have prepared will be put to good use
