I don't know red, she's got more money than god and the press is fawning over a no-shot turkey just to put up a straw opponent. Got anybody else in mind? By the way, even if she doesn't get the nomination she could end up draining so much from the campaign chest of the winner that there'll be nothing left for the general election.

Money won't do everything in a campaign. It seems that money works best to get one's name out, but after that you get diminishing returns on your cash. She's already got her name out there and I honestly don't think any amount of money is going to win her back the votes she lost from a) being a woman and b) being a terrible bitch of a woman.

I'm pretty set on Obama winning the Dem. primary, myself. Lots of people disagree with me and I very well could be wrong, but it's one of those gut feelings.

That's the no-shot turkey I was referring to. Money can do a lot more than just get name recognition, I'm sorry to say. Massive opposition research for one. And then big money can spend big in every state, not just one or two here and there, especially with other states looking to move up their primaries to minimize Iowa and NH. I look for her to lose to McCain. I'd rather she lost to Rudy but that's OK, I've never gotten my first choice anyway.

I agree with zappa, i think its gonna be a Hilary vs McCain.
I think Hilary will court a lot of conservative votes too, it'll be a narrow election thats for sure.

I would like to vote for McCain but I highly disagree with his flag burning law, and his support for escalating Iraq.

I agree with all of that and because of why you won't vote for McCain, many others won't either which is why, as much as it feels like a chilling dark cloud looming over me, I honestly think Hillary is going to end up our next President.

If Guilani gets the nomination, it will be tight and I think he's the only way the Republicans will have a chance. He'll steal votes away from the Dems if Hilary gets the nomination.

Red,

why do you think Hilary's being a woman is going to make squat difference? She got voted is as a NY Senator. The shock value of seeing women in government is long gone.

There are many women out there, who, men and women alike know darn well have nerves of steal, hearts of ice, eat nails and children for breakfast and the power to rip your balls off,  without flinching, save for the move to light up a Cigar afterwards. Seems some people want to see those characteristics in a Commander in Chief. Who can not picture Hillary in a Sherman tank bulldozing over and blowing up anything that stands in her way?

She's an easy woman to picture as Comander in Chief, as much as I don't ever want to see her there for other reasons.

I agree with zap about Obama. Just last week, I saw a CNN poll taken for the democratic primaries and Hilary was at 86% and Obama at 14%. He's got a lot of catching up to do. At the most, he may end up her running mate.

People are comfortable with Hillary just because she's been in the public eye for so long on top of being next to Bill who people loved and trusted for some reason. Obama is a strange new face to many Americans and he can't beat that factor he's competing with in the times he's got to do it.

The masses don't follow  this stuff to any great degree. They're too caught up in who will become the next American Idol, not President.

I was watching a show where a 22 year old was asked who the Vice President was. She drew a blank, a long pause of confusion and then said, "is it something like Kunda Rice?"

For shits and giggles you guys start asking random people who the Vice President is when you're out and about.

Name recognition alone builds a sense of trust and familiarity in things. If you're traveling in Morrocco on business, need to grab a quick meal on the fly,  and see only an Olive Garden and Tukanta open, which are you going to eat at?

If Hilary gets in with Obama as her running mate then, I think he'll have a chance in 2012 or 2014.

Here are some funny quotes from Althouse blog on the Clintons.

Quote:

Have people had enough of the Dynasty approach? Or will shoulder pads, cheesy overacting, and loud hairdos make a comeback?

Well, it recalls the old joke of the married man: what's mine is hers and what's hers is...Hers. When Bill ran, you got Bill with Hillary; when Hillary runs, you get...Hillary.

I still hold my position that Hillary will not get the candidacy, and if she manages to somehow, she won't win the presidency.

Once 2008 roles around, that sounds like a great idea. I think it's a bit early for something like that just now.

I predict this year is the year when McCain finally gets presidency. It's too bad Obama is so far behind in the polls. I think he'll have a decent chance in 2012 if he stays on track.

Hmmm....

8 years of Reagan/Bush
4 years of Bush
8 years of Clinton
8 years of Bush
4-8 years of Clinton (potentially)

I think it is time to get rid of (by voting out) "Royal Families" in office; they haven't done a very good job over the last 25 years.

p.s. It is sad that I must clairify my "get rid of" statement to mean voting rather than violence. What a messed up world we live in. *sigh*

Hahaha I didn't even realise that. Royal families= corruption. When a rich, spoiled person comes into power, you have corruption. See the connection? Bush is a decent example. Well, actually, he's the best in American history to prove this theory. This spoiled little brat is thoughtless basterd because he grew up a step above everyone else.

Elect people that were once normal people.

I think that if either Hilary or Obama end up being the Democratic candidate, that the Republicans will win the election.

Both of those democrats are too polarizing, its too soon, it won't happen. America is still too racist and sexist.

Im sure that Hillary will win the Presidency because she is a female.
I think that the American people are tired of how men have been running this nation and are ready for a womans touch.

I'm an old man???

And here I thought I was a 27 year old woman.

I'm just being realistic, that's all. I know my fellow Americans. I live right in the middle of all these people that others forget exist. When you live in a place like the Northeast or California surrounded by liberal democrats, it can seem like everyone is on your side, but in fact, you are just a small community in a large country, the majority of which is still conservative to the point that women don't get to run the country and neither do half-black guys named Obama. I don't agree with that at all, I don't like it, but that's how it IS.

Edit: And as far as Hilary and Obama go, I think Obama doesn't have enough political experience to be anything but charismatic and Hilary is an ambitious woman who is deeply hated by half of the country. I don't see how either of these candidates would do this country any good.

there wont be an election in 2012 if mccain wins the POTUS in 2008...mccain has stopped a hair short of publicly promising to start WW III...at his age he might not live long enough to do so..but i would almost bet the farm that mccains' VP will be at least as radical...

however..i would bet the farm on hilary being the democratic candidate either..beacuase by the same token..howard dean should have been the 2004 candidate at this same point in that election cycle...
