Injection Ports and More...

Hello everyone,
This is my first post, I am not acquainted with UBBCode but will read up on it to add links and other fancy things to my later posts. Also I have a tendency to ramble on... I apologize for this and will try to keep it as simple as possible. I have a great number of questions all of which I have researched a great deal. This is not my first time growing but will be my first time growing a little more than simple PF cakes and I am hoping to go to the next step, LC/WBS/Coir (I think).
I tried going on the #cultivation in the Java IRC client but couldn't seem to find an answer from anyone, and I was going to PM agar about this because in one of (the many) searches I did I found that about 2 years ago he/his wife(?) was making some lids that had injection ports and built in filter patches. But his message says he's moving and would prefer not to get PMs about cultivation for the time being...
My direct questions are as follows: 1a) I was looking for a vendor that sells lids that are autoclave-able re-usable and has injection ports and filter patch. 1b) Is there a vendor out there that sells packs of rubber injection ports that are self-healing/are all rubber stoppers self-healing?
2a)Also for Liquid Culture jars I was wondering if the Baby Bottle techniques which I have been reading about are a good way of propagating mycelium before adding to Grain. 2b)If so is using RTV (the silicone I think) in the end of the nipple is a good way of creating a self-healing injection port.
3) What is the piercing threshold of RTV? (Not only how large of a needle but how many times can it be punctured before losing a seal)
Feel free to tell me to re-check the search engine, but I have searched for the last 3 weeks and gathered a lot of information on the questions I had and hope to find the more obscure answers here.
Also if you think that WBS/Coir is not a good method for me to use than please let me know.
I am not quite ready for the commitment to Single Strain Cultivation on agar (PDY, MEA, ect.) and am using Golden Teacher Multispore syringes to start out. If more information is needed please let me know.

The black RTV can withstand 600F, and that's not even the high-temp version, which is red. I'm not sure how many times you can puncture it, but if you see that it is wearing out you can add another dab of RTV to get more uses out of it. Another thing you can use as a self-healing injection port is a rubber syringe plunger. The rubber top of a vacutainer works also.
Add spent coffee grinds to the water you use to hydrate the coir, but you're better off hitting up Craigslist and finding some horse manure.

For self healing injection ports I use red vacutainer caps. They work great and can withstand the temp and pressure of the PC.

1a) I don't think there is one right now. make your own!~
1b) Probably several...look for vacutainers. You use the red tops off the vacutainers. Check Ebay...that is where agar and I find ours.
2a) I suppose...but haven't tried it... I like using pint and quart size canning jars.
2b) RTV works great... I've used it on metal canning jar lids.
3) It will work for quite awhile if you cure it right.
I've used some really large thick ass LC needles that are really heavy gauge and that are 3 1/2 inches long... and haven't lost a seal on RTV or the injection ports from the vacutainers.
I'd think about using LC/WBS/and horse manure rather than coir. Coir is more expensive than horse manure...at least to me. I get all my horse manure for free.
Making your own plastic filter lids with injection ports are easy...
Get a few boxes of plastic mason jar lids...
Get some vacutainers for the (red)injection ports...
You can use filter material, or microspore tape, or a round band aid for the filter...and several other things that are slipping my mind right now.

Drill your holes out of the plastic lid...
don't drill the hole too big...start with smaller drill bits and work your way up.
insert the injection port...
make sure that it's snug...
then make a hole for your filter...
apply the filter to the lid!~
This is an example of one of the types of lids you can use....

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I think I'll just make my own with some RTV and see how it works out.

If I recall right, they have a $20 minimum order + shipping. I would verify if that is the case, before ordering.

Are the grey or blue plugs easier to work with? Looks like the gray ones would stay in the lid of a jar better considering its threaded.
Agar, how's your turbinado sugar doing? I've got some to try out.
