Give it to me straight
    #6493190 -

Is there any chance of finding psychoactive mushrooms in NW Ohio? I hear about finds from East and Central Ohio, but I have a feeling that my area is shit. There are spots that look like they would have them (quite a few, in fact) but I have never heard anything about it. I live in pretty much the extreme upper corner of Ohio, almost on the Michigan border.

Even if it's a slim chance, I'll still go hunting this spring-fall, but will I have to take road trips a hundred miles to find a good spot?

there is some chance. i would think Gymnopilus species, Panaeolus subbalteatus and Psilocybe caerulipse. actives in ohio are not what you would call common no matter what, but with enough time and a proper knowlege of the target habitats, you will dramaticaly increase your chances. in the PNW, P. pelliculosa are supposed to be rare outside of clearcuts, but i found that once i had found them i could find them just about anywhere in the doug-fir forests i hunted, where there where higher conventraction of limbs and twigs [where there was more wind exposure, allowing more branches to be downed, and in washes where the watersheds drift accumulations of them into greater concentration]. it's all about knowing what cnditions will increase the chances that your mushrooms will be growing there.

sorry for the longwinded nature of this, just got caught up typing.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Thank you! I've come close to finding some Gymnopilus before, I think. Found some Galerinas on a decaying log. I guess my targets will be Gymnopilus Spectabillis, Psilocybe Caerulipes, and Pan Subbs.

I really just want to boost my confidence, so I know that there's not NO hope.

my advice is, get out there and hunt whenever you can and enjoy it. like any hobby, if yu wouldn't do it without the payoff, you're probably wasting your time.
