Big Protest in DC This Weekend
    #6493676 -

http://www.unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=3489

I plan on going, never been to a big protest before. Also it is a little unclear about what they are protesting. I guess they called it because of the small increase in troop numbers. But anyway your buddy Turn will be there, any advice for me?

Ahhhhhhhh, so maybe this explains why blotters were running on news channels tonight about the micro wave Mob Control technology the government needs to test out on U.S. Civilians first before the UN will allow them to use it on the enemy in times of war.

I'd bet they wanted to discourage Protestors from showing up by running those.

So my advice to you is, if you see guys in Uniform, carrying some weird looking weapon, stay on the outskirts of the crowed so you can split fast if they decide to test it out at this protest.

Those things are carried on the backs of trucks and look terribly ineffective. There was a thread on it a while back.

They're just a heat trick anyway, it says they're harmless and only run at 130F.

Hi how's it going, wanna kick Heroin basically painlessly on your own, in your own house, without any government "help" ,or the "help" of a crazy condescending, judgmental medical doctor? Read this:

Protests will never accomplish shit, nothing. None of the politicians will listen to your concerns. The soviets were so ineffective at stifling dissent they would use brute force, ignoring protestors is much more effective.

Pretty much all I know about it came from that thread. The blotter running said  "heat technology designed for mob control harmless to humans".

If it really is harmless, it probably is ineffective then.  So why would we be supposedly vying to get it approved for use on the enemy in war time? If its ineffective, it sounds like more government waste. I wonder whose buddy got the contract for manufacturing ineffective and harmless weapons the size of a truck.

Be Safe Turn and report back on how it went!

Why would you be surprised about gov't waste? It's no different than planes that won't stay in the air.

I tend to agree. I never understood why despotic governments through history always dealt with dissent with force. Doing such threatens the power structure of a government far more than the protests.

Heh yeah ignoring them is easy, but hell I have never been to one I am still excited. Think there will be a drug scene there? I am kind of picturing it like a more boring music festival. Got any good slogans for a sign? I was thinking

I didn't say anything about ever being surprised to see government waste. I saw one watch dog show that revealed a $250 receipt to replace a regular $35 toilet seat in the White House. Government waste of tax payer money is simply sad but true.

acutally they have many new devices to be used on protestors, and the one in question shoots "MICROWAVES" at you, they are VERY bad for you.

i'd expect some EMR weaponry, especially because it's D.C.

Quote:
The crowd is getting ugly. Soldiers roll up in a Hummer. Suddenly, the whole right half of your body is screaming in agony. You feel like you've been dipped in molten lava. You almost faint from shock and pain, but instead you stumble backwards -- and then start running. To your surprise, everyone else is running too. In a few seconds, the street is completely empty.

You've just been hit with a new nonlethal weapon that has been certified for use in Iraq -- even though critics argue there may be unforeseen effects:

It's called the Active Denial System, or ADS.

And don't underestimate them. They're no fun.

After all, the white house will need some real defense.. What good would bunk crowd control do for the preservation of state? Can't leave the castle open for take-over.

Good Luck, and where a knight's armor. The beam penetrates clothing, but not stone or metal.

Just remember the peace. :peace:

Walking gently towards the defenders, or even crawling through their legs, will bring a much different reaction than storming or fighting the barricade.:thumbup:

:earth: :yinyang: :shineon:

I wouldn't be too worried about these devices. Not only do they NOT cause permanent damage, but they are extremely expensive and unwieldy, so odds are they would not have them there. It takes several seconds for the concentrated beam to cause pain, so to use it on a number of people, they would have to be standing still and not move once the beam settles on them. It sounds much less effective that tear gas.

We've already had a thread discussing this weapon if you want to check it out.

Before you join any "peace" organization's "peace" rally, you should ask a few questions:

Have they organized a march to protest the killing in Darfur?
Did they organize protests against the 9/11 attacks?
Have they protested the use of suicide bombs against Israel?
Have they protested the kidnapping and televised beheadings of Americans?
Did they protest the train bombings in England or Madrid?
Do they have ties to any overseas anti-American organizations?

If you don't ask those questions, you'll likely find yourself sucked into an anti-American activist organization under the guise of "peace".

Yeah I don't think anyone has ever condoned terrorist attacks, I think the jist of this one is stop our own governments terrorism, and specifically the war in Iraq. You know we can't really protest things that happen in other countries, only try to get our own government to act. And also I hope Darfur and Iran will be talked about alot. How is Darfur now? I heard they had a 60 day cease fire signed in January. And what exactly is an "Anti-American" organisation? Do they want to give the land back to Indians and Mexican's? Or do they just want a different Government, I don't understand how you can be against a nation

I thought he was being sarcastic. You mean there's actually a new anti-riot device that produces a massive burning sensation?

That's where you're wrong, and the reason for my post. All over the world you see people protesting America and its action, and sometimes you see protests in America against another country's actions. For example, the protests against Israel during the recent Israel-Hezbollah war.

Many of these "peace" protests include messages supportive of terrorism, and are organized and funded by organizations that do support or defend terrorism. Do some research, you'll find that info very easily. Do some searching on "International Answer" and "Ramsey Clark" to get started.

Go to the rally, I'm sure you'll see plenty of it.

I'll be at the protest too.

Don't worry about cops using weapons or any kind of violence. D.C. protests are typically very tame and rehearsed.

No I hope it will not be like a music festival. Jesus. Let's at least try and take the war seriously.

Anyway good for you for going. It will be inspiring. Let's both have a great march!

a few years ago the government would have deployed the LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Devices) which were present on the streets of NYC during the Republican National Convention in 2004, and also used in Iraq at the time.

now in 2007 and with so much heat on the gang currently inside the white house, i would be surprised if they didn't have their new machines of crowd control on stand-by.

Quote:
ADS produces an intolerable burning sensation on people’s skin with an invisible 95-gigahertz energy beam, causing them to be repelled without injury, according to the US Air Force.

It has a range of 550yds and is being evaluated as a vehicle-mounted weapon, with the possibility of ship-mounted and airborne versions to follow.

i don't think they will really use them.. ultimately it all depends on the manners of the public and how they conduct their protest. i hope to see no foul play.
