Hi. I bought one of those, the kind of gauge with the outdoor probe. But I just keep the probe all coiled up and slid the whole unit into the grow chamber. Seems to work just fine and it doesn't take up a lot of space. The indoor readings just measure the "indoors" of the chamber itself. I thought about messing with the wiring to get the probe to read indoors but then I said "why bother? It ain't broke..." and so on.

Yeah but the problem with the Hydrometers at Wally World are that the ONLY read indoor humidity, not outdoor. So that means you have to place the whole guage inside the terranium and the gauge fogs up and shit and I've had to open the chamber somtimes just to read the gauge.. Of course, if you've found a way around this, please let me know.

Huh. Well I dunno - I don't seem to have a problem with reading the guage. I am using the perlite tek to get my humidity and there's no fog at all in my chamber. So I just place the gauge on it's stand near one of the walls and I can read it fine. I am using a Rubbermaid "Fresh Pocket" clear plastic tub (it has a little sealable reservoir, the so called 'fresh pocket, on the lid that's supposed to be for a potpourri sachet or something - I use it to run my air circulation hose in) and yeah, it's a little dim inside there but with normal light I can read the guage. So maybe it's the humidity tek you're using.

The probes are only for temperature readings, not for humidity.
Buy a Radio Shack #63-1031. It's all weather. The people at Radio Shack may try to tell you that you need a base unit. You do NOT!
These work great right inside the chamber.
