Chances of me getting government benifits?

I live in Pennsylvania, and was talking to a woman who said I should be eligible for government programs if I applied. On one hand, I have no money, no job and no assets worth noting - but on the other hand, I'm a white guy, not old and not a veteran.

I figure the best thing I can do would be to pull my money out of the bank, wait 30 days, and then send in the food stamps form - and get Medicare if they let me, so I can get my teeth cleaned, and a new toothbrush free from the dentist, because my toothbrush is starting to look pretty ratty.

Just wondering if anyone knew anything about this, and if there was anything I should or shouldn't do when applying.

Good question. But yos, I'd rather see my "donation" going to keeping someone here happy and healthy rather than going into blowing up some innocent people 8000 miles away.

Yeah, if there's no money in your account then you're eligible for food stamps, only takes about a half-hour meeting and the people are generally very understanding and friendly... don't know about medicare though.

for one don't be a lazy piece of shit...

you can't get medicare....that's for seniors and some people that are disabled
you could try to get medicaid...

i have been trying to get this because I physically can't work. I have been trying for 6 months. It will take a long time.

But above all.. get a fucking job. people that screw the system fuck it up for people like me. Now I have to wait forever to get anywhere becuase of all the bullshit claims, like yours, they have to deal with.

Hey man if you meant to respond to tibberous...

Otherwise, yes I'm disabled too, I've been fighting for years for SSI - apparently it's only available to people with depression and anxiety and not to those with physical limitations... the whole system is fucked.

Maybe he's in a rural area without the advantage of even being able to find work?

For everyone who said they don't want me taking their tax dollars, did they ever consider I'd be taking my own tax dollars?

Never mind the fact that most of our tax dollars get put to defense and offense, and welfare is a lot smaller percent of spending than most people think. The fact is, I paid in a hell of a lot of my money, and a hell of a lot more than I could afford. If I paid in $2000, and get a couple hundred back for food now that I'm not working, I'm not taking shit I didn't earn. I might not be putting in enough to pay rent for some woman with 6 kids, or pay off some soldiers college - but why the hell should I anyway?

If you guys really hate government aid programs, going on them is probably the fastest way you can kill them - and all of these posts kind of got away from the point of the thread, which was just to ask for help doing it, not to start a moral debate on government spending. Thank you namaste for a helpful reply.

You open your mouth, then you open yourself to responses of all sorts. This is a PUBlic forum, people don't have to give you advice if they think you're being a spineless mooch.

I don't hate gov't aid programs, I hate people who try and get out of being a functioning part of society (whatever that happens to be) by mooching off of them.

There are people who do work, and still don't have enough money to afford proper benefits (like me!)  I recently had to apply for Massachusetts Health insurance, because I can't afford health care.  If that's me "mooching"  off of other peoples paychecks I guess so be it :shrug:  I've looked into purchasing my own health insurance coverage, and the HMO companies won't even give me a quote because of the state that I live in.  In some cases, people really just don't have much of a choice on the matter.  But I agree, if someone isn't working and is just trying to "fool" the system and freeload that's kind of lousy.

You're alright.  Accepting benefits from gov. programs for what they're intended is fine.  Hell, it's how I was brought up.  This guy in no way qualifies, though... he's just looking for handouts.  He might as well be panhandling.

That's what I think anyways.  I should probably keep my thoughts to myself.  :shrug:

I'm disable(I'm only 25 and I get ssd,ssa, marcade and marcare ) it can take years without a lawyer, if you get at all.Find a lawyer that only gets paid if the lawyer wins,they all over the TV.With out a lawyer you won't get very far.The lawyer can only take like no more then a 1/4 of what you get .The more ssi and ssa you get the less food stamps you get.You can't have no more then $2,000 a mouth in you bank account.I'm thanking that they go back one year to see if you have any money, but I could be wrung.Why i see it they spend alot of money on a unless war/illegal aliens ,why can i get a some of that money.
