trying to work it out, is that grain or sawdust in the bag?

I would suggest you get some air into the top of that bag. It will do much better with a plenum of air in the top. Try hanging it fom a cloet rod so that the weight of the bag will slowly draw air through the filter patch as it forces the bag to open up a bit.

I'm not positive (it was a kit that came with LC and the bag) but it looks like a mixture of fine wood shavings (brown) and vermiculite.

I cut holes in the bag and placed under fruiting tent (misted twice per day) on January 15th. Here is what it looks like today.

These oysters are really growing fast now! Here is a picture one day later (today); the biggest are over 3 inches tall!



How do I know when to harvest these? Presumably when I see spores? I hope to make some spore prints. There are 2 other slits in the bag that are about 2 days behind these. I want to eat some as well. I believe I'm going to need to harvest all the mushrooms from each slit at the same time?
