I would take what little you have left, and use it to taper down as much as possible for the next few days, so it's not AS harsh of a withdrawal.  The worst part, IMO, is the insomnia, and the cold sweats. It's misery, and you know that already.  Lots of hot showers helped me a lot, as well as aleve for body aches, and immodium AD for ...tummy issues  :crazy:  Also as someone mentioned, if you can get your hands on some benzos, they do help a bit.  But if you want to be clean, skip the benzos, deal with the week or so of misery, and don't look back.

Also, I found for me, one of the hardest parts was the depression and lack of motivation to do ANYTHING.  As much as you will feel like shit, and will want to just sit there and be miserable, try to do something to pass the time, it will make it go by quicker.  Go for a walk, or play a game, or call a friend.  If you do things to take your mind off of it, it's not as bad as if you just sit there wallowing in your pain.  Good luck.  :heart:

Doesn't work.

When I went through opiate withdrawals, I tried that.  Took more xanax and valium than you could imagine, and STILL couldn't sleep.  The insomnia was fucking horrendous.  :thumbdown:

It worked with me hun but then again i was only strung out on OTC codeine pills, maybe my advice wouldn't work with a heavier opiate withdrawl....

Benzos help towards the end of bad withdrawals... If you're really sick and puking though you can take a shitload and not even notice you've taken em except your shaking tends to die down.. I went through a script of 90 purple xanax in a day and a half trying to get to sleep during my worst bout of withdrawal... didn't work at all... but i've taken them during light withdrawal and slept like a baby... So yeah... depends on a few factors i guess.

I've been doing between 20mg and 40mg a day for two weeks as i'm battling back pain. I'm really worried about becoming addicted. Should I just try to take a few days off?

I wish "drug sites" like the Shroomery got some props in the media for threads like this... I've never had the displeasure of opiate withdrawl, so my only advice is to listen to those who have. Good Luck man!!

if i could suggest something... if you really wanna quit.. get your hands on a little bit of methadone ( key word a little bit :wink: ) and some bupronorphine...  that is the only way i could quit the habbit i have going right now...  methadone for the first day or 2... then the bup for a couple more days... its much easier getting off of the bup for a short period.. then quitting cold trukey off 100 + mgs of oxy a day

It couldn't hurt, I know if you search scholarly journals you will find more detailed information.

Baiscally I want to say what most everyone else already said. So I'll make it short and list-like.

1) taper down. Cut dosage in half every few days or sooner. Get down to the point where you are only taking 5 to 20mg a day ox pxycodone.

2) Its like having the worst flu of your life. Immodium AD will help with the shits, which, shouldnt start for about a day or so after you quit.

3) Benzo's can make a HUGE difference, but keep in mind they in themselves are dangerous in that you can act out irrattionally, forget things you did, and even make people violent or extreme mood swings.

Use cold medicine to help with the sudden sinus leaking. Your histamines will be going crazy and you will be pouring snot, puking, shaking, hot, cold, etc. Basically, treat your symptoms.

Te depression is by far the worst part for me as well as others it seems. It can last for weeks afterwards, Be prepared. Make sure you have hobbies you can get yourself into so that once it hits you can keep yourself as busy as possible.

Once your off the hunk, STAY OFF IT. No little bit here or there is ok. If you are an addict, and trying to get clean, then there is no more 'sometimes its ok'.

Can't sleep, just tossing and turning. Hurts so bad, my bones ache.. feels like a super bad flu but my mind is a little crazy. Not even into the worst of it yet. Thanks for support
