This is true but I could see and smell the mycelium, it's very thin mycelium, when the mulched and decomposed pine bark and chips are added to the peat to create potting mix the mycelium colonizes the wood and becomes thicker, when the conditions are right these species fruit from the part buried pieces of wood!

I did a little reading on restiad peat.

It has a much higher lignin content than peat we get in the USA, from Canada.
That may also have something to do with it.

Hmm, interesting, I would like to go and have a look at these peat bogs someday,maybe these species have a natural habitat there!

how many mega pixels is your camera, and how the hell do you get it to focus so well on the cap and stipe??

It's 6.3 mega pixels, I focus on the cap near the papilla(nipple), when it's focused I recompose the picture if some of the stipe is missing at the bottom without changing the distance from the lense to the specimen, then take the shot !
