are you talking about fresh off the vine or just abnormally damp buds?

sticking them in the oven is better than microwaving thats for sure, if you gotta dry it out quick at least put the oven on the lowest possible setting and leave the oven door half open

it will dry pretty quick in the oven, just try to keep it from getting too hot. whatever dont stick in the microwave it makes buds taste like burnt newspaper. sure someone will say "you have to just wait til they are cured" but you gotta do what you gotta do to get baked.

Well I decided to try it for myself. I put some top grade on some tin foil in the oven for 30min at 200 degrees and I shit you not, the stuff is definately stronger now.

That's basically what I do, except 15-20 minutes at 250 degrees.

Im curious..........

I have had some of the best buds out there but are you people telling me that heat makes them more potent to smoke.

I understand why you would cook them in butter, and why eating streight weed works too.

I just want to know if heating any old dried buds makes them more potent to SMOKE? I have never cared to read about this because I have good bud. I cant help but to think that this is a bunch of bullshit. I dont KNOW though............

Does cooking really make smokable bud more potent than the common drying methods used by growers who do it professionally in places like cali, or is this just a load of shit that stems from the fact that cooking oral doses of mj with butter works better?

please respond to my post. Im curious.

Why dont the pros use this method. They grow the best pot, but do they not do this cooking ritual for a reason? Do they not know about it.

Drying weed is pretty damn simple. Should I tell my friend who is HUGE in cali about this, or would he think I was retarded?

I have smoked alot of pot, but I just dont know. It seems like horse shit when it comes to SMOKABLE buds.

The science behind this supposed fact would be great. I just hope its nothing in comparison to oj and lsd, or the lemon juice and mushrooms methods. Thats the sort of shit im just not interested in.

whats your definition of smokeable? good taste, good quality? or did you actualy mean smokeable as the degree in which the matter burns?

it tastes weird sometimes, i must add that. this sour diesel i just baked smells and smokes like golden sweet corn, yes corn.
its not unpleasant, just different.
the quality is much better, the high comes on quicker and harder, and usualy lasts longer. its also not placebo at all.

me and my girl had smoked 2 or 3 bowls with our friends one night of this durban poison we had, and they said it was "moderate", which i would agree with, it was mids quality.
we took it home and baked the rest of it that night, and brought some the next night, didnt mention baking it or anything, actualy i had forgotten until it kicked in, and we didnt even get through a bowl together (5 people). they said they hadnt been that stoned in years.

im in northern cali, neighbors to three medical suppliers and a crazy datura'd out mexican who smokes so much he thinks hes a cactus.
all of the growers here know that baking weed increases potency, and they all heard it from someone who owns a hydro shop down here.
i have read about this method in 2 or 3 cannabis books, one being "cannabis alchemy" (just a brief mentioning in the increasing potency section) and the other being "the art and science of cooking with cannabis" which speaks of it to use before cooking as this ensures the plant will be "as potent as it can get"

when pot.tv was still around there was at least one video that mentioned it, and i believe the words the guy used to explain the difference were "like a steamtrain", which i continue to quote in my own ways.

6 years has been spent personaly testing out the freeze drying methods, microwave, desiccant, and air drying, and the only thing that has blown my socks off and left them a charred pile on my floor is the oven tek.

and everything i just said could have been read by looking up the old threads on this

by best buds you mean G13? ive never smoked, tasted, or experienced any high as beautiful and euphoric as G13 genetics.
baking your pot isnt going to be as good as G13, unless its grown in asia or the pacific islands (ive smoked bud from fiji and asia, i would never smoke american pot again if i could).
however i cant imagine what baking G13 would be like

once again thats not very clear, and im not trying to be picky about detail, im just not sure how your trying to apply it?
"smokes well" and "smokeable" pretty much mean the same thing to me.
there is many variations to the words you speak.

alot of fresh buds i get dont burn well, while baked buds will burn very well.

if your regarding flavor, like i said its different, though i have not found it to be unpleasant.

if you mean the high, like i said its much better.

i dont understand this last post of yours though because i have already given these answers, i dont know what else to tell you unless your more specific.

Dont sound so confused...........Dry weed smokes well...... Youre the one who asked about my definition of what smokes well.

but Dude, thanks for the response. I am going to try this. You gave no science behind it but I somehow trust you.

Best weed I have ever tried was g13. I cant believe you mentioned it. Thats what I mean by my good friend(maybe a relative) grows for a living legally. His best bud ever was g-13.

Thats so weird you mentioned that strain. I would love to know if those could have been any more potent than they were with more natural drying methods. Im talking year 2000 g-13, not some joke.
This guy has 99 plants in 3 places. 1 place is his limit legally. You can bet your ass he has mostly g-13 strains.

Its just crazy someone else has heard of that stuff.

Its actually a high yeild plant that has a citrus smell, and very little skunkiness to it.

Im going to try your method just because you know of G-13.
I have never met anyone who has even heard of it......
My friends, my dad, and everyone who smoked it said it was the best bud ever.
I wouldnt want my weed to be more potent than that.

At christmas time I get a small green ball of finger hash from the trimming process.

Thanks for the info.

I'll try abit,, i'd like to know how it works on a science level though,, or is it just that the buds are drier ?

Sounds illogical to me if it's the heat because heat is applied to the joint/bong as your smoking it.

Maybe it's sustained heat ?.

I only have dry bud but i'll try it later and report back.

I've heard of G-13 too, actually I heard it from some kids after I'd only smoked pot like three times. Never had it, though.

I think you guys are missing the point of this thread, and now you have completely fucked it up.

I belive she asked how to DRY weed in the oven, not how to bake it, nor did she want to increase potency...she simply wanted to DRY it. Now ive never dried weed in the oven so I cant help you there, but If i may suggest you hang your buds upside down near a fan and let em hang there for a few days with the lights off. Just check your bud till you feel its dry enough.

tmshroom, atleast read the last few comments.  Its not about drying weed anymore.  How do you dry weed.  The answer is in this thread.

G-13 is close to the best.  That is, it has so much potential.

Im sure after this thread, a few people will be calling their average dank g-13 just to get more buys.

Just like the blueberry strain and the many many variations of it.

You really dont know if the name is right unless you know someone who does this legally.

g-13 will make you shake at the knees.  It reminds me of a low dose of mushrooms and a ton of mids.  There are alot of good buds that are almost as good, or as good given the grow methods.

The last time I tried this guys g-13's it was mixed in giant bud form with six other kinds or "kinds".  G-13 was still the best, but some strain that smelled like vomit from afar was close to the same potency.

It all depends.  If you can find some well grown g-13's, you found just about the best.  Not to mention the micro climate in N-cali which is great for growing weed.

We even once got a strain that was rained on for 3 days streight at one point.
Some of the best bud I ever had.  The nugs were flamming and mosterous.  Less hash and less of a smell though.  They were out that night, they forgot about the tarp that they usually use.

They used it for personals.  Didnt sell one bit of it.

It was still better than any dank I have ever bought in the chicago land area.    FUCkIN RAIN!!!!!!
