"Potency" depends on how you define it.

The denominator being used is weight, so of course dried is more "potent".

HOWEVER, if the denominator was a unit of "standardised mushroom", then drying the mushroom makes it lose some total activity (someone else can chime in as to how much, I don't know).

The trade off (for a unit mushroom) is...

A) Drying, losing some activity, keeping the mushroom longer, consuming later.

Vs

B) Maximising activity but consuming now.
