Ferrets Rule

Our Silver Mitt, male ferret is running around the living room right now. We have one of those fake fur mouses on an elastic string that hangs from a door way, and everytime I go out and shake it, he'll come out and leap for the fucker. I'll start to tug him around the floor a little bit as his teeth and claws are sunk into it. He realizes it is me doing it so he lets go, runs up to me, and then jumps at my leg. :smirk:

It is also fun to watch Merlin fuck with my Norwegian Elkhound, Odin. Odin's very curious and likes to sniff him, and when he does, Merlin will sneak underneath the couch and poke his head out in different locations. Its hilarious when Odin will lay down on the floor near the couch and Merlin will climb out and grab his tail. :grin:

That's what I heard, and its one of the most ridiculuous things that I have heard. I fail to comprehend how a state could be so progressive in some manners and yet so blatantly ignorant in others.

'Course, we are friends with a couple that used to live in California, and they kept ferrets anyways. Fight the power! Actually, I believe there are organizations committed to changing those bullshit laws. Let me see what I can find...

I have a silver mitt ferret too, his name is Villain.  I also have a sable ferret, her name is Hero.  They're a ton of fun!  :thumbup:

We used to have a female Sable named Dainty. Dainty was more my ferret whereas Merlin was more my roommate's. She was the cutest little thing, and would love to climb around on my shoulders. She got really sick and the vet had to put her down... :frown:

We're thinking of getting a buddy for Merlin soon to keep him company. :cool:

I really enjoyed having a ferret in the house, back when my old room mate had one.

Only problem was she let the thing shit in the corner of the bathroom :frown:

That stank so bad....almost unbearable.

But it was a neat little creature. He really enjoyed beer. Would go out of his way to to try and knock your beer over, in order to have access to the golden liquid treat held within the can :smile:

Great pictures liz.

I've wanted one for a long time. I hear they need a lot of time and attention though. What would you say are the costs for such an animal, factoring in food and such.

I know you need to get them de-odoured or whatever.

Easy to train? I see how it even gets along with a big dog...very cool. I know they are very very smart animals.

Well, I think California's ban on ferrets has ecological reasons. I guess they're considered a potential threat to agriculture or ecology if they got loose and turned feral.
