Yeah.  One time, my fiancee got on the wolf and like lifted the front of it up towards our dog and made a growling noise.  Our dog FREAKED, and started going at it like it was a real live animal she was playing with :lol:

(From my dog encyclopedia)

Robust, vigorous, athletic, and with a strong voice, which it willingly uses when it sees its prey, this is the most popular of the three Scandavian Elkhounds.  It is a classic spitz breed, and Stone Age fossils from Norway confirm its antiquity.  When working as a gundog it does not chase, but follows its prey in a hound like manner.  An extremely versatile breed, it had been used to hunt lynx and wolf, as well as elk, and is a sucessful retriever of small game such as rabbits and fox.  Norwegian farmers also use it to herd farmyard chicken and ducks.

Origin: Norway.  Antiquity/1800's.
First uses: Elk Hunting (WOW NO SHIT?! :tongue:)
Use today: Companion, gun dog
Life Expectancy: 12-13 years
Weight Range: 48-55 lbs
Height Range: 19-21 inches (I think this measurement is at shoulder)

That's a decent overview, suitable for an encyclopedia. :grin:

They aren't nearly so big as a German Shepherd, yet they are pretty stocky and look impressive. They aren't kidding about the strong voice. I think they are naturally good guard dogs, and Odin is very alert. You haven't felt the fear of God until you've heard Odin's roar when someone unexpectedly knocks on the door. :lol:

They are very loving and soft dogs, but they are naturally independant dogs, and very strong-willed. I've read that they aren't too quick to welcome strangers, and Odin demonstrates this. He is well-behaved when its just us, unless he's trying to be sneaky when we're in the other room, but he will not listen when someone else is visiting, and he loves to assert his dominance over them. :grin:

They are rather intelligent animals. The amount of expression and personality in this dog is incredible. Odin's very affectionate, and you sometimes wonder if he's got the spirit of a six year old in him. :wink:

:lol:  You spelled some 4 syllable words correctly in that post, so I don't think you're THAT bad off :smile:  Maybe sometime you can explain the breed to me when you're in a state to do so. 

Here's some pics we took just now...finally managed to get a few pictures of all 3 ferrets that show their faces, which is a minor miracle in itself, since they move around almost constantly. :heart:

My dog barks pretty loud when someone is at the door too, and maybe it sounds intimidating, but the fact of the matter is that unless she sensed our life was in danger or something all she would do is lick you and run around in circles knocking things over with her endlessly wagging tail.  The only time I've ever, EVER seen her be the least bit mean towards someone was during family Christmas, we were all sitting around in the living room talking and opening presents.  My fiancee's stepfather had just had hip surgery, so there was a nurse staying at the house in case he needed anything.  She was sitting in the far corner of the room being very quiet, and Lucy didn't see her because she wasn't moving or anything and was in a dark corner, and is African American.  Suddenly, she made a noise.  Lucy went CHARGING over and freaked the fuck out on here.  Barking, hair standing up on end, and wouldn't let her out of the corner.  I guess she thought that she was an intruder or something.  She didn't lunge at her or growl or anything, just made damn sure that the woman wasn't going anywhere, and that we knew that she was there.  My fiancee eventually calmed her down, but now the nurse is terrified of my dog :lol:

Yeah, Odin is mostly harmless, but that bark is very intimidating, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :thumbup:

He loves to pester people when they come over, though. He'll circle around their chair and sniff around at them, jump up in their lap occasionally, give them his rope or set it on their leg and chew on it. I don't permit him to jump on anyone, and occasionally he tries to get nippy if they are playing with him. Its totally a hierarchical dominance assertion thing, but its annoying. I have to intervene all the time, and he's not happy about it. Fortunately our guests are typically tolerant of dogs. :grin:

Thanks for the compliment on my ferrets! We try to keep them as happy and healthy as possible, and as CLEAN as possible, since so many people think they smell bad, we try to keep our house "odor free". Other than my dog farting, there really is nothing I can do about that.

A bunch of shroomery people have come over and met Lucy, and they all think she's hilarious. She'll do about a million tricks for a piece of food, and typically anyone who comes over, she winds up laying on their lap with a toy in her mouth, trying to get them to play tug of war with her. Or licking all over their faces, because she's made a new friend and she's THAT excited about it, it's wicked cute.
