Ferret destroys mushroom fruiting chamber

Well my ferret often sleeps in my bed with me. She usually sleeps all through the night with no issues but last night I mysteriously wake up at 2AM with a strange feeling. I look t her little bed that's usually next to my pillow and no ferret. I look around my room and no Ferret then I look under then bed, nothing and sure enough she is laying right under my desk. I put her back in bed and shes fast asleep and I pass right back out. I wake up this morning to find this....






honestly I'm really not mad about it. I have gotten a lot of mushrooms already out of these and It was my fault for not taking better precautions but I thought I would share this with you guys.

I am pretty sure she didn't eat anything and she wasn't acting strange...well any stranger than normal at least.

There is no way to Ferrit proof a house. In my brief experience with the devils I have found that the more you try to make something ferrit proof, the more effort that ferrit will exert tring to get past your guard.

That plastic wrap on your lid seems to be the problem.  Perhaps replace that with some plexiglass?

Ferrets are mysterious creatures, they will get into Anything, and somehow manage to too.  I took a ferret on a roadtrip and he wandered around the car stealing weed out of people's pockets.  Under the passenger front seat there were 3 baggies from him stealing them.

My friend Tolbert used to have a ferret named Lucky and he would hit the joint when it was passed to him.

No joke, he would hold it to his lips with his little paws and puff away.  It was crazy, especially when we would trip with it.

Ferrets are awesome. :biggrin:

Dude, I'm sorry for your loss but that is hilarious. Animals are so cool and curious. Especially ferrets. I'm happy that you aren't mad.:thumbup:

well as long as were all talking about ferrets maybe I can get a fellow owners advice. I have never given my ferret any sort of "treats" before and I was at pet smart the other day and bought some Fero Vite which is some ferret vitamin gel made by Marshal. I have wanted to potty train my ferret for awhile because she wont use her litter box and it drives me nuts so I figured I would try and use it as a reward for her when she uses the litter box but she pays no interest at all and I cant seam to get her to try it. any suggestions?

I wouldn't call her "trained" she goes to the bathroom in whatever corner of her cage she feels like. I have a litter box in her cage but she refuses to use it except occasionally.
