Mushroom Projects under way or planed.
    #1321105 - 02/20/03 06:24 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

I was just wondering what peoples plans or hopes are and what sort of projects are underway or being dreamed of  in the world of mushrooms

Personaly i wont to find the key to growing liberty caps indoors and out of season. But untill i get a culture going this is just a dream.
Also i'd like to grow more speices than just P.Cubensis but again awaiting arrival of cultures.

So anyone up to anything interessting at all ?

I've always wondered why people never grow liberty caps. Is it because they need fairly cold temperatures?

They are the shrooms that I am used to most as they are the ones I pick in the wild when the season comes round. It would be cool to grow some.

I should think that one problem is that you would only be able to get hold of spores late autumn and then if something happens to them you have to wait another year unitl you can try again.

Good luck though

Its not the temp. issue, they are just very difficult to get to fruit!

It seems to be a mix of things that make it hard to fruit.I would guess its temp related as well as substrate related but could be that it needs a symbiotic relations ship with either grasses or some other thing like a bacteria. It may also be that the spores need to pass through a grazing animal like sheep or deer.
I suspect that the english liberty caps are very different to the u.s version as all the pictures ive seen of u.s libs dont look like the ones i find.
Finding what of the above is the key is my mission for now lol.As im sure i can be done with great results once the key is found.
i think like some plants that it needs a temp change of say 10 degrees every night or something in tune with that.but who knows :frown:

also the spore print thing isnt such a prob as once you get it on a petri dish you can retry when ever you like rather than wait till autum.
