A Few Questions from Beginner using Quart Jar Way

A friend of mine is about to set up a little operation and I just had a few questions to ask before we got started with it.

1) This is probably obvious, but do the jars sit with the lid at the top or bottom during the growing cycle?

2) When Innoculating do i just shoot the spore solution loosely into the jar with out poking the needle into the brown rice flour or anything?

3) What temputare should the jars be kept at and what is the best method for keeping a constant temputare?

It looks like you might be on the wrong track here. You mention brown rice flour in your post but you wouldn't want to wait for a whole quart of PF style substrate to colonize. Quart jars are used for whole grains which are shakable and colonize much faster. Well, here it goes anyways:

1. The lid goes on the top.
2. BRF + quarts dont mix. I suggest you use 1/2 pint jars. The needle shouldn't go into the BRF+Verm. instead it should stay on the outside of the glass so the spores can travel down freely.
3. Ideal temperature is 85-86 degrees. The best method for this in a aquarium heater incubator:

Yes you unscrew lid and squirt the spores on. then shake. screw lid back on loosely and your set.
