quart jar question

This might be dumb question but I've never used quart jars before. I have only used wide mouth pint or half pint jars which make it easy for you to just slide the mycelium cake right out of the jar. But With quart jars you dont have the wide mouths, so how does one go about getting the colonized grain out of the jar? Do you just dig it out with a spoon or something and break up the mycelium cake, and wouldn't that be damaging to the mycelium network?
Any comments would be appreciated.

Using a clean sterile spoon would be fine. Unless you were planning on fruting it cake style. There are widemouth quarts but you still need to use a spoon. Just scoop out a huge chunk and crumble away with those stubby little fingers.
