Irish steel cut oats are quick oats, before they pre-cook, roll, and flake them. Definitely more flavorful.

a little chewy, and thick. but your correct, they are damn good. a bowl of those with a handful of raisons sprinkled over = all other recipes pwned.

Coating fish with rolled oats ,then frying it. You can also do it with yesterdays meatloaf cut in to slices
Dip you fish/meatloaf in to a beating egg, then into roll oats and fry .

I have heard that too, the adding the oatmeal to meatloaf thing. I heard it makes it really moist and tender. I'm not a big meat loaf eater though.

I bought this bag of dried blueberries, sprinkled it onto some irish steel cut oats. Awesome!

Mashing half a banana in a cup of oatmeal with a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar is yummy.

Also, these cookies are yummy and easy to make. You're supposed to make them with peanut butter, but I've made them without peanut butter, and just adding extra oats.

2 cups sugar
1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
3+ cups oats

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except peanut butter and oats and cook over medium heat. Let boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and oats.

Spoon out quickly onto wax paper or aluminum foil. Cookies will harden as they set.

These recipies are great..! I'm definately going to get some fresh coconut and maple syrup..

I'm surprised Peanut Butter hasn't been mentioned yet.

Here is my personal favorite. Make it about once a day in a small "oatmeal" dedicated steel pot I have.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal

1. Heat any amount of water, usually not to much (gotta fill it with grains right)
2. When boiling, add 2 spoons of ( pure ) honey, 2 spoons of organic, crush peanut butter (health food store), cinnamon, sea salt, then add your oats.
**I like to add kamut or granola also, mix them together**
4. Slow cook until thick

Enjoy... :tongue2: Makes an awesome sweet treat. You can add crush cashews aswell, so good ! Thanks...

just wondering if anyone has tried mushroom oatmeal. Maybe something like sauteeing up some shiitake or agaricus in garlic-butter sauce, then pouring it over the oatmeal. I can't figure out how this would taste, but haven't been brave enough to try it out.

anyone?

blueberry muffin oatmeal

1/2 cup oats (steel cut are best)

salt

cinnamon

1 tsp rapadura (for refined sugars, to taste)

1-2 tbs of molasses

1 1/2 cups blueberries

Bring oats to a boil, skim, then simmer. Add cinnamon slowly just until oats/water take on a darker color. Add molasses, stir in. A few minutes before being done, add sugar. Add blueberries a minute or so before being done. If desired, add a light splash or two of milk.
