meditation
    #6234277 -

over the last week i've been meditating for around 15-20 minutes a day. i do lose concentration a lot, but when i really get into it, whatever it is that i'm looking at, usually the sheets on my bed, start to look like they would as if i'm tripping. the patterns of the sheets start blending together. would this also happen to someone who has never used a psychedelic before, or am i getting this as a result of using so many psychedelics over the past few years? when it really starts happening i tend to get a little amazed and lose my concentration. i guess it's just going to take some practice before i can hold it and go further.

Why are you looking at the sheets on your bed?

That is what happens. I could do this stuff before I even tripped once in my life. The longer you go the more trippy stuff gets.

because i sit on my pillow on my bed when i do it. it's the most comfortable place, and you're supposed to look downward a couple of feet in front of you.

thanks for those links, they were really good.

i have been reading up on eastern thought and philosophy lately. it just makes so much sense to me.

can you recommend any good bruce lee movies that focuses a lot on the art and the training? i've only seen enter the dragon, which was great, but i wish it had a little more of a focus on him under his master at the beginning.

He has some books out that talk about his training and philosophy. One that you'd certainly appreciate is The Tao of Jeet Kun Do.

If your eyes feel dry, then blink. =)

Limerick, there are many kinds of meditation. I mean.. you could watch the sunset and consider that a meditation. You can focus on breathing deeply and consider that a meditation. You can do the cross-legged posture and consider that meditation. That is probably what you are thinking of.

When I think about doing the cross-legged version, I consider the fact that I need to be ready for it. I might take a shower beforehand. Perhaps go for a walk to a cool spot. There's also the option of doing more intense activities like running or swimming. One thing that is really not an option is being flexible enough to be in the cross-legged position. You will have to stretch a little bit along with any other activity that you do to get ready for meditating.

Sometimes, meditation is not the best answer. You might be better off doing something different like a walk or stretching or breathing deeply or simply relaxing. It only helps if you make it work. =)
