christians have to figure out something new to hate on a regular basis so why not make a holiday out of it...and with that they gain a sense of communion. so i say fuck you jesus and all of your single minded followers :jesus:

there was a really interesting on history channel last night called the history of halloween, that discussed this alot, starting at its pagan roots to the development of the catholic church and how they decided they needed to adapted their own version of the holiday ( when it was officially named "all hollow's eve") to convert the pagans by keeping some of their traditions intact. it then went on to describe the split of the church and the how the protestants when they came over to the americas didn't celebrate, but the catholics in virginia did, then the irish (who still maintained forms of the original pagan holiday) brought it over. And the spanish brought it to the indians in mexico. where it became a day to celebrate those who died in the past year for the Mexican Catholic groups then it took over america... thats just a rough explaination of the history of the holiday, but if someone tried to find that special online or maybe even again tonight on the history channel.. I'm sure they could, it was awfully informative about the churchs various stances throughout history about halloween..
