Experiment. Gelitan + H2O2

So I bought this Gelatin today in place of agar to see if I could make it work.. I decided against trying to do it the normal tek way. (boiling, PC'ing, etc)
So, this is what I did.

Mixed .25ml h2o2 with 2ml distilled water and 1ml of pure honey.
poured into a petri dish.
Sprinkled gelatin powder on top until it was thick enough to solidify.
Placed one colonize WBS kernel in the middle..
If anything happens, I'll post an update...

Update:
The colonized WBS kernels began to come back to life but two days later, Cobweb set in like crazy.

Here is the lesson learned...
1. Even food grade products contain nasty things waiting to come to life.

The more interesting lesson learned....
What I failed to mention, is that the colonized WBS kernels were of one thumb sized clump of dried colonized WBS that existed in an overlooked emptied wbs jar that was out of sight during wash and store time for all my myco stuff. The jar with the little nugget of colonized wbs has been hanging out in an open jar in my garage for more than a year.

So, since I learned this from my halfass experiment, I decided to try the following...

1. Took a piece of the dirty little dried, decrepid, dormant wbs clump, and soak it in a soloution of Sterilized water and 20 percent H2O2 (3%).
2. Let it soak for 20 minutes.
3. Drained the soloution from the container (syringe case)
4. Did a grain to grain transfer to another jar of WBS.

If it makes it to 100% colonization without bcoming contaminated, it will be interesting to see how things turn out.

Also, when I mixed the mycelium clump with the H2O2 soloution, it bubbled up pretty rapidly. kind of like how it does on a flesh wound.
