Chemically Induced Mutation

Has anyone ever tried inducing mutations in P.C. by using a mutagen such as Ethidium Bromide? That is probably a bad example but I know there are similar compounds out there. Do you think that they might be better than UV radiation?

why mutate is the better answer? there are several chemicals that will instantly do what you want ,probably, but why? PF took 2 years to find a mutated strain that would hold, and you see the result. the only strain ive heard of that was mutated and survived is B+, and thats the exception not the rule.

isnt it possible to get an advantageous mutation though, such as faster growth or higher alkaloid production? larger fruits maybe? i was thinking of trying to make some teenage mutant ninja fruits :smile:
but seriously, do any of you experts work with single spores and try to isolate strains?

I posted some info on this a couple months back. Do a search you will surely find it. There is a lot of good info on how to make the mutants through UV radiation. It would be a very time consuming task to find a good mutant, but if one is found that dramatically overproduces psiloc(yb)in it would be well worth it. Also note that mutants may not fruit, but they can still be overproducers.
