I don't think those are A. muscaria.

A. muscaria var. formosa will have multiple very distinct rings ascending from the bulb.

like this.

You should consider those mushrooms you found as deadly poison.

Doesn't it kind of look like there are some concentric rings that maybe got rubbed off a bit? Either way, pretty smurferific looking amanitas. Nice weilliis once again too!

They could possibly be another psychoactive aminata, called Amanita Pantherina, though do more research because there could possibly be many kinds of amanita species that are all red with white dots.

theres a few species of amanitas with red caps and white spots, one of them is even poisonous i believe.
not much has been documented about them, and most consider them to be the easiest to identify, but recently ive heard of people getting sick off "yellow staining" muscarias, and ones without the frills.

the bulb of those looks nothing like any muscaria ive seen

the caps dont look right either :justdontknow:

i also wouldnt suggest eating it if it were a pantherina either.

Those amanitas look crazy! I've never seen any Muscaria-like lookalike/relatives that like that. The weird shape of the cap and the strange shade of orange, the slightly yellow warts and a massive creamy stalk that doesnt really have a bulb because its so fat.

I'd hazzard a guess that those are quite different to most of the amanita M formosa things that people have been posting. Pretty neat anyhow, but I dont think I'd be tempted to try those.

Good stuff!

they are formosa, they have rings around the base that are subtle and did not show up on the pic. i picked a formosa last week that looked the same as these and i have been smoking it with mj. it has yellow flesh under the cap as well. the rings and some of the vail were on the ground under the mushrooms. dont eat amanitas! smoke em!

The muscaria here in Georgia are pretty strange, but those are the ones. I have been finding ones like that for 2 years now, and have never had any poisoning incidents.
On top of that, I trained hilikus personally in the art of Amanita hunting, so you can be sure he's got it. If that is not A. muscaria, then it is a very close cousin, maybe part of a complex, and it is definitely psychoactive.
Thanks for the concern, though, as I know you guys were just looking out for hilikus, being that he has less than 50 posts. But I assure you all that his experience surpasses his post count.

The yellow warts and annulus also are out of character for A. muscaria, but I do see hints of rings in one of the photos.

I was not aware Anamitas were psychoactive when smoked.

What's the buzz like?

i dry them then take the skin from the cap and the yellow flesh just under the cap. when mixed with bud the smoke is rather harsh, but it is a very clearheaded mj buzz. it takes away most of the negatives like drymouth and red eyes if you are prone to these. overall its like an mj buzz without the fuzziness.

Those arent A m v. formosa I dont think. The thing with all these yellow amanitas, they are probably all very similar and have the same type chemicals, but there are a few poisonous ones also.

Its such a mess because everyone keeps finding ones that dont meet the Muscaria description, and since the literature is a mess as well noone really knows what they have.

But if it aint broken dont fix it.
I tried smoking heaps and never got much at all. :frown:

Ive hunted in Georgia for a couple of years and I still don't think those are legitimate.

i can understand any concern with amanitas because they are risky and can be difficult to id. these are without a doubt the real deal. if you look at the description of a muscaria v. formosa this fits. i have used them and have had no problems. they look very different and distinctive than other amanita that grow in my area.
