The Tibetan Book of the Dead. Actually the Bardo Thodal, or liberation through hearing. this coommon book is actually practiced and is called Shitro or the yogic system of recognizing ones pure potentiallity as the hundred peaceful and wrathful deities -peceful of the heart and wrathful of cognition. If one can understand their potential during life then spontaneously after death one can self liberated or go to a pure land. If one is advanced then they can manifest unlimited bodies throughout manifold universes to benefit other beings.

Very cool documentary. I think it could do without the cheesy music, though. I kind of got this travel brochure feeling from that aspect of it, like it was trying to sell me the experience of Buddhism in a plastic wrapped package. I put on some Shpongle to kind of drown out the music and this worked great.

I'm curious to learn more about one thing the narrator said: that in countries where Buddhism was founded or once flourished the most, it is no longer practiced... no details are given as to why.

On a side note, I think America/western society could benefit a great deal if we were more open to teaching about death.
