make u trip alot harder :eek: than if just downing the shroooms in food or just by themselves...

i always thought it was the acidity or the vitamin c...?

Actually it's O.J. and lsd your thinking of. Supposedly the vitamin c interacts with the stric-9(sp?)and makes you trip harder. In my opinion it's just an urban legend.

I drank 5 Curant Absolute vodkas with OJ while shrooming at this pub(cost me a fortune hehe) strange experience, but nothing special. Slept till late next day.

I think its the best drink to go with shrooms. Natural and tastes good. Prob all natural juice drinks are the best.

I always remember people talking about shrooms and oj...not lsd and oj. People argue whether its the vitamin c or acidity of it, but i dont believe anyone really knows whats goin on.

okok. there is no or has there ever been any type of strychnine in LSD. LSD does not metabolize into strychnine. the only recorded instance of this overly publicized incident was when a package of pure crystalline LSD was confused with a package of strychnine and delivered as the LSD. This was, of course, not the LSD. it was the strychnine. of course there are contaminants in LSD almost all of the time, but strychnine is never one of them.

on the question of the OJ helping with LSD trips: this is true for any Vitamin C containing substance, like oh i dont know, Vitamin C tablets. Vit C is almost 100 percent soluble in water. as most of you should know, LSD hydrolises into water when it is doused with it. This is why you should keep your LSD dry and shit. well, because of your body being 75% water, you happen to hydrolise some of your LSD when you ingest it. because of vitamin c having such a solubility rate, it acts a blocker to your water hitting the LSD. vitamin a however, like you get in like um asparagas and shit, is possible to OD on believe it or not, because it is not nearly as soluble and builds up in your body fat until a toxic level is reached. call your moms on that one if you want.
for shrooms, the vitamin c (abscorbic acid) helps to further digest your shroomies in your tummy. this is why you should take Vitamin C for pretty much all your trips.

I read something about this ones, apparently Orange Juice dissolves the mushrooms so they go through better. Also Orange Juice can be a weak MAOI.

I actually always eat some citrus or drink five alive, with mushrooms.

Jesus Christ. You've been here 4 years and you're saying stuff like LSD contains strychnine??! THAT'S the urban legend my friend. Stop spreading misinformation. You really have no excuse especially on this site where the factual information is READILY available.


As far as OJ making you trip harder - yes it is the vitamin C.

Good call on Five Alive. That stuff dominates my life more than any drug ever could. However, I recently noted that Five Alive is no longer a significant source of Vitamin C! How is that possible?

Anyway, citrus just pwns (pardon my leet) in all forms. Lemon and chicken, lime and beef, oranges and mushrooms...dang.

I never heard that either, but who knows? All an MAOI does is decrease the effect of gastrointestinal acids which metabolize food (or destroy DMT instantly, incidentally, which is why Ayahuasca is both DMT and an MAOI.)

You're probably aware of all this, I just wanted to clear it up for anyone else.

Can anybody confirm/refute the Vitamin C as an MAOI claim? It's piqued my interest.

synephrine is found in the peel of this Bitter Orange. Not the normal oranges. perhaps this alkaloid, being found in the bitter orange is confused witht eh normal orages we get in the USA.

for the record, synephrine is a MAOI.

The Vitamin C deal is all theory.  It could be moving the trip along or it may just be acting as a placebo (both work for me :laugh:).  Either way, I'd suggest drinking it with your fungi.

This is all speculation I'm not saying that I know what I'm talking about but I believe citrus fruits contain chemicals that block the cytochrome P450 enzyme. I was reading the gummiberry thread and one member made reference to this. I know that grapefruit juice has this effect on Celexa and it is suppose to effect some opiates as well. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I personal think lemon added to Ayahuasca increases it effects or changes it somehow. I don't make it without it.
