Please help with Agaricus blazei info.

Hello everyone,
Can anyone help me? I am looking of information about Agaricus blazei. I heard it was the most potent of all medicinal mushrooms. Where can I find reliable information? A friend told me it has the same growth requirement as silly-simon (Psilocybe cubensis). I want to grow some because it costs about $100.00 for 20 grams dried. If anyone knows where it is cheaper, please let me know.

http://www.datadepo.com/cancercure/agaricus.htm has information about the medicinal properties of the mushroom. Let me warn those who are trying to grow this mushroom that bulk compost should be used(ie. woodchips or composted straw) and not bulk colonized grain. That is, do not grow out hundreds of jars of rye berries or birdseed and then case that material. Instead, use the grain to innoculate bags of sterilized compost, and once that is fully colonized, case the resulting mycelium. The mycelium grows very slowly and is very prone to contamination if you do not have a semisterile environment. HOwever, when growing on substrates with less nitrogen, there is very little fear of contamination.
Another word of caution: unless you have sterile conditions, do not spawn fully colonized grain to pasturized compost. Although you may suceed, there is a high risk of failure due to the nature of the mycelium of this species.

I grew some, they did fairly well untill flies got into the mix.. afterwards they did their best, but.. alas.. lost the war..
mushrooms bring flies.. flies bring worms.. flies bring bacteria.. bacteria and worms bring pain.. pain leads to suffering.. suffering leads to the circular filebin..
i say go for it, what do you have to lose?
