Just testing this plastic jar lid filter w/external injection port. Dry malt gold & dextrose liquid culture innoc w/TLG GT spores 3/23. No contams & healthy rapid growth of Myc. SixTango -- out J
WTF, I cut this Pic down to 65 KB & it is still a giant. Guess I need to tinker with the photo software. I'm doing something wrong - somewhere. SixTango -- out

You need to resize the pic in realtive % to the original, what you're doing is cutting down file size by saving the file with less quality. Try Image->Resize in the menu bar of your imaging software, change the units to % and insert 50, you'll have an image wich is 50% of the original. BTW, where do you get those injection ports ? The green stuff is a couple peices of blue/green plate glass shards placed in the bottom of the jar, so you can agitate the mycelium & break it up enough you can suck it into a syringe -- without it plugging a 18 gauge needle. The camera flash kind of reflected off those shards & gave the jars content a green hue. The actual color of the liquid is like beer (light dry malt & dextrose). I just ran across a bizzilion of these tiny filters & put them to good use. The injection port is a small hole (3/16th) in the lid, with a 1/2 inch plastic golf tee shaped plug for a closure. I just recieved some material you can inject through, that instantly reseals. I will be putting it to the test -- next. All in all, I'm just developing an potentialy idiot proof plastic lid, w/filter & injection port pre/installed. The advantage being -- .03 micron filtered air exchange & one would never have to open the jar to innoculate it's content. SixTango -- out

Im going to check out a few cleanrooms nearby and see what they have to offer in technology. Do you know the normal use for this filter? it looks simmilar to something that used to be used on old hard drives.. now they have a large negitive pressure (vacume) internally, but back in the day they had a small filter for airflow.. How do you protect the filter when you shake? what shaking method do you use? you mentioned a filter disk in your pm, but those which I have used are essentially a filter themselves and I shy away from allowing them to absorb nutrients for fear of contamination growing through the filter material. these could be really nice for a filtered air intake for anyone useing a humidifier or air-pump-in-a-box. keep up the nice work! tinkering is what makes the world go round..
