wellllllll, ill give you the rundown!
the origonal diesel engine was actually designed to run on peanut oil.
you see, diesels dont work like gas engines. gasoline engines have a 1:8 compression on the cylinders, and a spark igniting a mist of fuel in the chamber.
a diesel engine dosent have spark plugs, it relies on compression. a diesel engine will compress the fuel so much 25:1 (3x more than a gas engine) that it gets so hot it actually combusts, and bursts into flame!
anyhow, since the modern diesel engine isnt all that different from the first one made, it can still be run on vegetable oil. You do have to heat the oil before it gets to the engine to make it thinner, but that is handled by diverting the coolant from the engine into a heat exchanger in your vegetable oil fuel tank.
the nice thing about the oil is this, it dosent have to be fancy fresh oil, you can just filter used vegetable oil that is being discarded from any number of resturants. and its usually FREE

i seen a truck that had that built into the back of the bed, where they would just stick it in the oil and suck it up, all automatically.
Filter was already in place etc...

yeah, i have heard about alot of people doing that.
and i havent seen a single person that can sucesfully dewater as well as filter on the run.
you see there are microscopic droplets of water inside this vegetable oil that you cant see because they are diffused, but when you get them in your tank, they will settle, and when they settle, they will build up and get sucked into your engine, and blow your injector pump, and engine....
while its doable........ its not recomended.

i seen a truck that can do it. It was some truck that drives around the state promoting the vegtable oil diesal thing.
I think it was in indiana. You start the car up on regular diesel, and then when the engine is warm you switch over to vegatable is how the car was set up.

but you can also just dip the hose straight into the oil container and suck away without doing anything to it.

if youre saying that you can go straight from the grease trap, to the car, then you are mistaken, that oil needs to be filtered, and settled, and often times that has to be done twice.
while an onboard filter might allow this to work for 100 some miles, and that is on reallllllly clean grease, it wont last for long before you fry your injection pump.

Who will give away the grease? Do you just walk up in any restaraunt and get the oil? How much are they gonna have to give away? How many miles per gallon will it run on?

well most all restunts that are paying to have it hauled off will be happy to let you have it, if you present yourself in the right way.
however due to the constant flux of the grease market, and varying grease haulers, sometimes they will get paid for their grease and are more reluctant to give it up.
usually a resturant will have between 50 and 400 gallons just sitting out back in the trap.
as for MPG its roughly the same on veggie as it is on diesel. some people get more, some less depending on the temperatures at injection and the type of car and engine they have.

Have you ever tried contacting Crisco or some other company to see if you could get a bulk contract? If this keeps gathering steam, the free oil will be gone before long.
And I'm sure you already thought of contracts with the restaurants.

yeah, but legally in illinois i would have to have some epa certifications and licences and insurance for the transport.
sooo id much rather stay undre the radar, for the time being, there is far more vegetable oil in dumpsters in my town that i can use in an entire year, and im the only local on the juice
i have allready put one of these kits in a car i converted, it went well and i sold it a few months ago..
2 days later it caught on fire on the interstate, lol!
the reason it caught fire, was because the new owner, disregarded my advise on fixing the muffler before driving it anywhere as a matter of safety, and drove it. well diesel exhaust is about 1200 degrees at the manifold... its not too hard to see what happened.
