to go to canada, or not to go to canada this weekend, that is the question

so for the past 4 years, every year in july i go to this festival called WEMF, its an electronic music festival in canada.

now this year im highly considering not going for several reasons.

1) while i have money, i really shouldnt be spending it like this
2) my current car is a total piece of shit, and while im confident that its able to make it up there, it might kill me on the way.
3) i would once again be driving solo, i cant talk my GF into comming with me

but, there is a flip side to this coin.

If i was to go to canada this weekend, i could buy a very good priced diesel car, and import it back into the usa, while leaving my shit box up in TO untill i go back in 2 weeks for beer fest.

cars are very cheap up there (especially diesel's) and once the car got back to the usa, it would be worth 2-3x what i paid for it. and while i wouldnt have the cash in hand, it would technically pay for the trip...

but there is a large amount of uncertainty that i would actually be able to find a good car, get the right papers, and actually import it back to the usa in a timely fashon, it could take upwards of a week. and while im absolutely fine living in a car, or a hostel in canada for a week or so, i have things to be doing back in chicago.......

i dont know what the hell im going to do, back in the day this would be an easy choice. Just take the trip, and enjoy it weather it worked or not...... but for some reason with my age im getting more cautious...... also, i feel bad ditching my girlfriend in the usa while i go run around in canada for a week or so.

Would going to Canada this weekend affect your chances of going to Canada for BeerFest?

if i got a new car, it would increase the likely ness of me goinig to beerfest, and also greatly improve my life, as i got 4 fucking tickets for my current car last week alone.

i really need a new car, i refuse to buy anything diesel. diesel's in candada are not only more abundant, but you can pick them up for 1/4 the price.

i used to support myself importing cars like this, till the fuckers at the border started messing with me.

You brought up a lot of important points to consider.

Getting the new car is a biggie as you'll benefit from that after the festival is over.

Leaving your g/f for a week is a factor especially if she'll be upset at you for it..I know...other guys will say "too bad for her' but, you have to deal with the repercussions that way, not them.

Would she join you for the beerfest (Oktoberfest is it?) and therefore you'll get...the car..the girl...and Canada all in one?

T.O. is where I was bawn and raised so my gut reaction is GO but I can't judge that, not knowing how important the things to do in Chicago are. Ask Dr.C or some other Windy-city dwelling Shroomerites to drive with you, if not this time, then perhaps another.
