Difference in STRAW?

Is there a difference in straw?
I usually purchase from mycosupply, but they are out of supply and my spawn needs straw!
Would it be the same exact outcome if I used the straw from a craft store like Michael's?
thank you?

Go to a feed store in your area and get a huge bale for the same price as a tiny one at michaels or other craft stores. RR

No doubt, I pay $4 for a 4 cubic foot or so bale of straw (never measured it, it's just about the same size as my 4 cubic foot bags of perlite and vermiculite that are $20 at the hydro shop)

thanks RR and Eraserhead (lol)
I do not know of any feed stores in my area
BUT there is a Michaels near me
I was wondering about the nutritional value of the straw, I hope its the same, for example, as good as the one I would purchase from mycosupply (for mycological purposes)
good shit!

Check your buisness phone book, on the internet, and search for "feed" or "fleet" then call them and ask if they sell bales of straw.

And, that same feed store will also have 50 pound bags of crushed oyster shells, hydrated lime, and WBS. RR

save them, take them back when you find the feed store.. you wasted a LOT of cash, if those bales are as small as I think they are from michaels.
the feed store bales are 42x16x18" or something close to that for about $5 bucks

In my area the feed store charges $8 for a bale, but it is at least ten to fifteen times the size of the ones at Michaels. I did get this cool straw/reed bird nest at michaels though. . .Check out the rhizomorphs colonizing the little bird. RR

HOLY CRAP 4.99 each!!!!!!!!!!!!! take those back!!! follow everyones advice I bet 10 bucks (after tax) at a feed store gets you more than what 54.89 (before tax) at michaels. Last time i spent that much on straw it was enough to cover a very substanstial portion of our yard Can your bales from michaels do that? I doubt it... Like I said and everyone else has said check your local seed and feed store. IF YOU STILL dont know where the feed store is drive out into the country til you see a house with either horses or large bales of hay, cows, pigs, anything ressembling a farm really and politely ask the resident where a feed store is they'll know... I know its far fetched but how far are you willing to go to grow your babies. Just tell them you need it for decorative purposes (it is the fall season coming up, many people use straw for decorative purposes). Walmart also sometimes has pretty shitty bales around halloween in the outdoor center used for covering crops for the winter. IF you still can't find any straw then i guess enjoy the stuff from michaels but thats a ridiculous sum of money to pay for straw. Hell if you lived near me I'd deliver all the straw you could dream of and it wouldnt cost you a thing because its just commonplace out here in the country and we have tons of it at hardly any cost to us.

You can get a cheap electric weed eater/whacker to quickly and easily chop up the straw in a rubbermaid tote. I live in a condo in a very large city myself, so that's what I do. RR

poor bro!~
you can come over and use my gas powered one anytime!~

I used to buy my wheat straw at a Grainge...same thing as a Feed Store.
Less than $4.00 for a whole bail.
The only time I will ever use straw again is if I get stuck using cow manure... if I run out of a horse poo supply!~
