Fuzz on spores, inside needle

Ok, normaly I post threads on the cultivation board, but this question isnt you basic "oh how do you grow mushrooms?" type question ..... I took a look at a syringe that was baught along with a few other syringes. Its an EQ syringe and its been stored at 60-65ish degrees in a drawer in my room for about 3 months. I looked at the spores floating around in it tonight and there some fuzz...grasping on to some of the spores...and strands of fine hairlike fuzz attatched to the inner surface of the syringe. Please tell me that they were stored a tad too warm and that these are just rizomorfs comming out of the spores or something. Thanks!

I read somewhere in a reply from Riche Hawk where he did mention that he had encountered one paticular popular strain of spores that would actually start to germinate from within the syringie. I cant remeber the strain, what your describing sure does sound like it.

Thats a very good question. I seriously doubt that it's contanamation inside the syringe (' never seen it!) Keep in mind that if it IS fuzzy spores that they must be feeding on something. If a syringe only has spores and water in it- what could the spores that are starting to look so fuzzy be feeding on? The only thing that I can think of is other weaker spores... I am totaly speculating here, I could be wrong. I would use them within a couple of weeks or sooner. Please keep in mind that I have no first hand experience with a syringe of this nature, but I have read about them here.

This is a very common occurence with certain types, the Ecuador being one of them. It's normal and does not indicate contams. Peace.

Depending what the print was on, It is more likely paper particles/strands. When I scrape index card prints this happens all the time. If it was form a foil or other print then could be mycleium. (Pan prints are easy to get the paper in the stringe too---sometimes you have to) hope this helps and everything works out. Dioze1

Yup, I've only seen it happen on Ecuador but I've read of it happening with Taz and PR. It definitely is not paper. It clearly looks like little fuzz balls of mycelium that ultimately clump together. I've only seen it happen on fresh spores.

well the best way to find out if it's contams without using a microscope or agar etc. is to use it on a jar and see... wasting one jar isn't a big deal if it doesn't work out
