spore syringe purchased

i recently purchased 2 spore syringes. they are supposedly cambodian strain cubensis. the question i have is this: i've noticed that there are black clumps in the syringe. these are no doubt spores, but are they still viable? the person told me that they were stuck way back in the back of the freezer for about a month. i've read that cold temps such as a freezer can be detrimental to spores viability. have they been "killed" by being in the freezer? and how do i get the clumps to dissolve back in the water. when i steralize the syringes, will they redisolve? this is the first time i have ever attempted to do anything with mushrooms. but hopefully when this goes well...........i won't be a rookie anymore, well, at least not as green as i am now.

This belongs in the advance cultivation forum.
I store my spores in the fridge. I don't think the freezer is good for them. Freezing them has nothing to do with the spore mass you see, that can occur at any practical condition.

umm, i hope you're not talking about sterilizing the whole syringe before inoculating(only sterilize the needle). put the needle tip in a flame and draw in some air so that you can shake the solution. hopefully the air in the syringe will give you a chance to break up the spore clumps(assuming they are spores). go ahead and prep a few jars and shoot, in a few days you'll know if they're viable.

Just give it a good shake before using.. Is this really an advances question...spores do clump in syringes, atleast if the are stored for a while, some of mine are anyway. I usually just make my own a few day before using them, then it is not an issue.
peace...

Do you know the temperature range for viable spores, or at which temp. the spores become unviable when subjected to extreme heating or cooling? I am not aware of these temp. limits, I figured those with advanced experiece may have an idea.

Freezing spores sounds like a way to ruin them, but theres only one way to find out if they're viable.

I seem to recall hearing that spores could survive in outer space!! but i've no idea if this is ACTUALLY true...
