incubator question
    #588463 - 03/24/02 08:10 PM (22 years, 8 months ago)

I have read up on dif't versions of incubators and ill probably be using annos. Anyway- do i have to build it and have it ready right when the jars are innoculated/cooled? im guessing no, since they do not NEED incubation, just a question. Also- do any of you recommend cold shocking?

thanks again all

i would think that warm temps and moisture are the determining factors in your mycelium germinating and growing healthy, so it should go straight into a incubator after innoculated, no big deal if it takes you a couple days to get to the store though, walmart has color changing thermometers for 2$ that come in handy, don't know how durable they are but seem to work fine so far

You actually want it done a bit before you are ready to use it so that you can monitor the temperature cycles for a while to ensure that the incubator doesn't get too hot.

You want to let the jars cool before you innoculate them.

You do not need an incubator at all, but if you are going to use one, you want to put your jars in as soon after innoculation as possible to ensure the fastest growth rates.
