I inoculated 4 jars febuary 15th and it's now march 15th and only 1 jar was kinda ready to be birthed so i birthed it. another jar is almost ready but needs a few more days. the 2 other's mycelium grew like the rest but stopped so now only around 25% is colonized. They havent done ANYTHING for about 2 and a half weeks. I injected some water because i thought they might be dry but still nothing. i have them at 80-85 degrees and dark. should i toss them or can i still save them and if i cant save them what can i do to not let it happen again cause that just cost me half my crop. any help is verymuch appreicated

hmm. flip them and give them air exchange; if your holes are taped untape them and if you have foil on the jars; sterilize your incubator and remove the foil and flip the jars. other than than moisture; pretty much any small amount of O2; and heat at 80-85 degrees you ned nothing else. if flipping doesnt show growth in 3 or 4 days just make new jars and try again. trust me; ive been there too maky times (emptying out uncolonized jars).

oh ya this is also my first time growing. When i opened up the jars to smell for contamination all i smelled was a strong mushroomy smell. it didnt smell sweet or anything nasty but just like fresh shrooms. I used PF tek and i used brown rice floor ground from a coffee grinder and hulled millet also ground in a coffee grinder. the brown rice was just plain generic brand and didnt say organic but i dont think that had much effect since 2 jars did grow nicely. i am using puerto rican strain from shroom works and i boiled and steamed to sterilize the jars.

well like i originally said; theres pretty much only 3 variables. CO2/O2 concentration, relative moisture content; and temperature. its your job to determine which one its lacking; but i agree its not easy especially your 1st time. probably if adding water didnt help they were too moist to begin with; else youre jars have built up too much CO2; in which case flipping them should remedy that in days. puerto ricans are the shit. im incubating over 40 jars rite now and im pretty excited; youre gonna love the trip afterward are you gonna case or cake them?
